Hi everyone,

I am new here. I submitted my I-130 application for my mom last June 23, 2017. My service center is Nebraska. It's been 5 months but never heard anything yet. I have a question regarding supporting documents, do I need an American passport to support that I am a citizen or naturalization certificate would be enough? I didn't get a US passport but thinking if that's necessary if uscis will ask for the required documents. Anybody who responds would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi @rain25! A copy of your naturalization certificate will be submitted as proof of citizenship. May take longer than usual for them to process papers this time of year because of the holidays but I wish you all the luck!

@jennnnnnnnnna

In ds 260, there is a question regarding vaccination requirement according to US. What do we need to answer for that? Yes or no?

Since we are doing medical before interview, will the answer be yes?

Thanks

Welcome rain25.

Yes, you need to prove you are a citizen; your naturalization certificate would be the proof, since you don't have a passport.

@Caramel Swirl,

Thanks for welcoming me here!

I haven't contacted the uscis yet thinking I am still within the timeline. I checked the processing date of Nebraska, it's still showing they are working on January filers. I think Nebraska is the slowest service center.

Welcome rainbowfalls.   They will tell you around 10 weeks for approval.  We are seeing VJers getting approval before but as you know, its hard to pinpoint a timeframe.  Interviews are set up by the local embassies so it depends on how backed up they are.   Again interview questions are really what that officer feels like asking and also the type of visa you applied for (spouse/parent etc).

Good luck to us all!!!

Thanks, Cameramel Swirl. I am filing for my mother.  She is very not good at remembering timelines and event dates.  So I was hoping to see if there are specific questions that the interviewer tends to ask to help prepare her.  I would assume question like what is your kid's birthday would be one of those questions.  If anyone could share interview questions that  their parents have encountered at visa interview that would be so great.  Thank you everyone.  Good luck to us all!! :D

Looks like most of us are moving forward to the next steps... Good luck to all of us!

Still waiting to hear from the Japanese Embassy regarding my mom's Police Clearance. I told my mom to follow up once it reaches its 4th week of processing. Hopefully once she gets it and brought back to the US Embassy, it will only take a week to get my mom's visa and passport. Can't wait!
