Well, we're sharing that hope. Based on the averages, our I-129F NOA2 should come at the end of May or beginning of June.

My real hope is to be in Russia on 1 Nov to celebrate my MIL's birthday, and then take my wife home. We'll see.

In early May, I got confused in an amused way. I thought I could read the Case number on the back of my cashed check from the image I got from my bank over the internet. That Case was a I-129F but sent to Vermont!

A few days later, I got my I-129F NOA1, with a number different in one digit (the one that was hardest to read) and, sure enough my case was sent, where it belong, to CSC. Is it good? Is it bad? Who knows.

The thing I do know is that we are better prepared for the relocation that this marriage entails than when we did the K1 two years ago.

I miss my wife terribly though. And now, because of a job change (my old job sent me to the Institute where she works about 3 times a year) we don't know just how soon we'll see each other again. But the time will pass quickly, I'm sure.

I think, CSC is not that bad. But still, some are lucky. Approval is just about 2 months. Who knows? We maybe be one of them.

What is good with this whole waiting game is, the foreign spouse has more time to enjoy her/his native country. As for our case, husband and I decided to settle in the Philippines for good, then after 6 months in the marriage, he chickened out, thinking that it would be hard for him to adjust...too bad! soo, here we are waiting and waiting....

BTW, you said you had a K1 petition 2 years ago. What happened to it? Was she denied?

Islandprincess,

My wife was, of course, approved for her K1. We had a rock solid case, since at that time I'd been in her city, seeing her every day, for 10 or 11 months over the preceeding 3.5 years.

She came here and while she liked what she saw, she really need to go home and decide if she really wanted to marry me and leave her family. We are not a young couple. In fact, she just became a grandma and, although I haven't yet met our grandson, I intend to claim her as my own -- my step-sons biological father hasn't been in the picture for years -- and well, you get the idea. She's a little older than I am, and I turn 50 later this month.

We got married in a formal way, not at all the real celebration I wanted, on the advice of an immigration attorney, because of the prior, successful K1. I'm very happy we are married, and look forward to an opportunity for an appropriate, sufficient celebration of that marriage. Our brief honeymoon in St. Petersburg at the beginning of the year was very nice -- but -- well, I look forward to better later.

Timeline

Good luck for all you guys (and for me).

I am hoping for early approval but I also need to be realistic.

I have both Japanese and the US citizenships and am currently studying at a graduate school in the US for one year.

It was good for me because I can come to the US without the F1 visa but it was not good for my wife (Japanese) because she had to go through the immigaration process rather than F2 visa like other spouses of foreign students (In this sense, I am worse off than other foreign students because I have a US citizenship...).

The change of the law in late January was also a very bad timing because we were planning to file our I-130 petition at the US embassy in Tokyo in early February, which should have been much more faster. Now the embassy restarted to receive I-130 but only from whom living in Japan for 6 month continuously, which does not fit to me, currently living in the US.

For good or for bad, I am going to work in London from September 2007. It is good that we can at least enter the UK together with the working visa which should be issued easily by my employer's help. It looks rediculous that my wife needs to wait very long in order to stay in the US for relatively short period of time (say July and August according to our current timeline). But it is yet important for us to be together. She visited me with the VWP before we got married, 30 days + 90 days within last 12 months, so it is getting risky to come again with the VWP. That's why we decided to apply for I-130 and I-129F and see whether a visa will be issued before I leave the US.

Well, I have my graduation ceremony early next month. Although it is not 100% sure that she can enter the US, she is planning to come here for one or two week(s) with the VWP. She will bring as much evidences as she can, showing her intention to return to Japan and I will also prepare my letter stating that the gratudation is a very special event which every one celebrates with his or her family member and we have no intention to breach the US immigration laws, etc.

After that we will see whether K-3 is likely to be issued by early July or she will come with the VWP again together with the airticket and visa to enter the UK.

Thank you for reading all of this.

I suddenly felt like writing something about me...
