Booking for wedding reception proof of marriage?

Hello again!

My husband and I have been discussing whether or not it is a good idea to book a wedding venue as a proof for our marriage. We wanted to do another ceromony with family and friends anyway if he does get approved but my concern is that it won't really hold barrings to our case and he be denied regardless thus leaving me with the disappointment of having to cancel the venue. My question is would booking a venue for the wedding be a proof of a bonefide marriage? Thanks!

03/11/2015 Got married at the court house

10/23/2015 Medical exam done

11/04/2015 AOS package mailed out by USPS priority (I130 & I145 concurrent filing)

11/06/2015 Packaged delivered to Chicago Lockbox

11/13/2015 Both checks cashed by USCIS

11/15/2015 Received text msg notification of receipts of I765, I131, I130 and I485

11/19/2015 Received NOA in mail

11/20/2015 Received biometrics appointment letter in the mail

12/04/2015 Biometrics appointment completed

12/09/2015 Case ready to be scheduled for interview

01/25/2016 Submitted online service request for EAD

01/27/2016 I765 case status updated to "New Card Being Produced"

01/28/2016 EAD officially approved and card has been mailed

02/03/2016 EAD/AP combo card received in the mail. YAY!

Many people get married with just a quick courthouse "wedding" and are accepted without a problem. Face time together is way more important.

I-130 Petition Sent: 11-May-2016
NSC Received (Our Priority Date): 12-May-2016
NOA2 Received: 30-September-2016 141 days for I-130 approval
NOA2 Hard Copy Received: 06-October-2016
Petition Sent to NVC: 17-October-2016 17 days for petition to be sent to NVC
NVC Received: 21-October-2016 4 days to be received at NVC
NVC Case Number Assigned: 31-October-2016 10 days for case number to be assigned
NVC Welcome Letter Received: 3-November-2016 @ 12:10 AM 3 days from case number assigned until Welcome Letter received and invoices unlocked
IV and AOS Fees Unlocked: 3-November-2016 @ 7:00 AM
IV and AOS Fees Paid: 3-November-2016
DS-260 Unlocked: 7-November-2016 2.5 business days for DS-260 to be unlocked
DS-260 Submitted: 8-November-2016

DHL tracking information received: 22-February-2017     DHL tracking number appeared 28 hours after interview, scheduled for delivery the next day
Visa in hand: 23-Feb-2017
US POE (Minneapolis): 26-Feb-2017

USCIS is not bothered about how big and fancy your wedding was. A big party is not proof of anything except you paid a lot for it. They are looking for evidence of a genuine marriage, not a wedding.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

 

Now a US citizen!

A wedding venue does not help since fake marriages can have a venue. This is a one time event, it does not show an ongoing life. A wedding is not a marriage. A wedding is one day. A marriage is for a period of time.

Things that have long records over a period of time is what USCIS is looking for. Financial accounts, utility bills, property ownership, insurance, wills, legal documents, etc. Things that people in a marriage will have together. This is what is import to show an ongoing marital relationship over the course of your conditional green card period.
