I was reading a review on the embassy in the Philippines and I noticed that they bring they cenomar along with all the documents to be checked initially. Do you need a cenomar when you go to the interview? I did not see it on the checklist for civil documents unless I missed it? Thank you in advance for your help... good luck on all of our journey...

A CEMAR or sometimes referred to as advisory of marriage is required for the interview. It must not be older then six months at the time of your interview.

These are the document requirements for a CR1. Gather these documents and you should have no problems.

Does cenomar has expiration? Do we need to get a new one? I didn't know that we need cenomar at the time of interview until I read it on the Philippine embassy reviews

That's what I thought. But I was reading the review on the embassy, and I read that they have given or asked about their cenomar with other documents. I am confused. Maybe I read it wrong that it supposed to be for k1? I need to check that again lol. Again thanks for the info ?

So we need to bring that cemar to the interview? Just wondering coz I don't see it on the checklist they requested. Does it really required? Thank you for all your response

Here is a link to the embassy instructions letter, bring everything list, and the CENOMAR/CEMAR is listed: https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/IV-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-365KB.pdf

You will need to go to PSA and request a CENOMAR, if you are married PSA will issue a marriage certificate. None of your PSA or NBI documents should be older than 6 months.

We just interviewed very recently. We were definitely asked for our CENOMARs.

So, definitely get a CENOMAR or CEMAR, as appropriate.

If you have never been married and are a Filipina/o, then you will receive a CENOMAR. If you have been married and any of the marriages have been registered in the Philippines, then they will give you a CEMAR - an Advisory on Marriage.

It is NOT a "marriage certificate" as incorrectly suggested by one of the posters above.

A "marriage certificate" is just that - a very different document.

And it is the NSO that issues the CENOMAR/CEMAR.

Hope that helps.

(symantics) aware of the "wording" ...

Wording from the instructions letter

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE (if applicable). For Philippine marriages, it must be issued by the PSA on security paper (not from the Local Civil Registry Office). You may call the PSA Information Center at (632) 737-1111 to inquire about securing a marriage certificate or visit their web site at http://www.census.gov.ph.

CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (if applicable). You must also submit a CENOMAR issued by the PSA and printed on PSA security paper if you have never contracted a marriage or as deemed necessary by a consular officer. You may call the PSA Information Center at (632) 737-1111 to inquire about obtaining a CENOMAR or visit their website at http://www.census.gov.ph.

Trust me from our own experience, a CENOMAR (or as a CR1 applicant a CEMAR) is definitely a document that the CO will want you to provide.

If not shown you WILL get a 221g and it will delay visa issuance by a week or so.

Same here. When i had my interview they asked for our CENOMAR/CEMAR (hubby & me). Although it was not listed on the NVC checklist and also on the embassy interview e-mail. I still brough it in and luckily I did. Thanks to VJ. I've noticed that they randomly asked CEMAR to spousal visa so it's better to just get a copy and bring it with you. It's cheap anyways.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info... so they need the cemar for the petioner and beneficiary? Even if the petioner is a USB? I just want to verify. Thank you...

No such thing as a cenomar/cemar for a USC. It only applies to the Phil side of the couple.
