Ok just to clarify it. Naturalized USC needs cemar as well? I want to make sure before we one... thank you

If the petitioner is a filipino naturalized USC then yes. Get him a cemar too. Rhey may or may not ask for it but in case they do at least you have one.

That is what I'm planning to get, for both of us. It's better to be ready than be sorry later on... thank you again...

Curious as to why a USC needs a Philippine issued document in order to obtain an immigration visa for his fiancé / wife from the US?

Because the USC was a Philippine citizen ( or still is maybe). Besides it is the embassy... they are the gods!

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!

Brassballs, I recall inquiring as to the point of asking for a CENOMAR for me (which would be blank) when my wife and I originally filed for our marriage certificate in the Philippines. What we were told was that it was to check for prior marriages in the Philippines, in the event one had occurred and the USC spouse was being dishonest.

Presumably, the point of the CENMAR/CENOMAR (aside from just the certificate of marriage) at the consular level is similar...they are verifying that both the USC and the Filipino spouse both have no prior marriages (in the Philippines), or have disclosed all their prior marriages on the previous paperwork. I'm sure they get a at least a few people a year who fail to disclose a prior marriage.

I just went and had my wife order CENMARs for both of us, and looking at them, it certainly looks like that would be what the CO would be looking for, since they list our marriage in a format that suggests if any other marriages were listed they would be in chronological order.

Well THAT makes a lot of sense that I never considered. I guess if the application warranted it they could ask for the CEMAR/CENOMAR from even US born USC.

I wonder what the doc would look like if the USC had previously married a Filipina in the Philippines and then divorced in the US only to re-marry or re-engage another Filipina at a later time (not having learned his lesson the first time :) )!

I guess a divorce decree from the US would trump the previous Philippine MC.

Approval shouldn't be denied for THAT reason. You'll get a 221g requesting additional information. Goto a NSO outlet in Pasay(?), pay 200P(?), and they will send document to the USEM. About a week or 2 delay.

Locations and cost only from memory so may not be entirely correct.

Just wondering, what if you do not bring a ceMar or advisory of marriage on your appointment to the embassy, are they gonna denied your approval?

You won't get denied. As said you will get a 221g and expect a 2-4 week delay

They will send it directly to the USEM? That's convenient

Not really, you still have to go to PSA (use to be NSO about a year ago) submit the request and pay for it. USEM does this for security reasons. ;)

Either that or the USEM sends a courier there daily to pick stuff up.

All I rember is that my wife didn't have to redeliver a document back to the USEM after she got the 221g after her interview.

What's the reason she got a 221g? If you don't mind me asking? I'm just worried that if we don't bring cemar we will get denied. But it seems like it easy to get.. and it is required to bring in the embassy right?
