I guess I was stressing for no reason... just received an email that our EAD was approved this morning and a card is being produced. Beyond thrilled!

The USCIS app didn't notify me. The email generated is what I noticed. I had to refresh the app to show the status change - so the app did not push out a notification.

Congrats for the good news !

Btw, in what area of Chicago are you living ? I'm like in NW of the Loop.

I am closer to Rockford, IL - so bit of a distance from the city.

Well, when you get the chance to come by you can send me a PM, maybe we will drink a beer together laughing about how hard it's the whole process (after we have our GC in hands lol)

Our biometric appointment was a day before yours - I think you should hear something this week!

Maybe you can add to a comment on your timeline what visa you are adjusting from? I'm assuming it's not on the VJ list since you put "other visa"

I'm not sure that it is relevant. My spouse was brought here as a child on a tourist visa and was an overstay. None of the visa options applied, so I marked other.

Different categories process at different speeds.

Basically that means that it's not as relevant for a K1 like myself to compare with your case.

I am adjusting from F1 status (student status), so I can't really compare my case to the ones I have seen here :/

If you look at the "other visa" option on the VJ site - it states: "entered on a non-immigrant visa, married US Citizen, applying for adjustment of status" - which is exactly what we are.

You think so? I have been comparing mine with everyone who applied at the same time I did regardless of the visa that they are adjusting from and it has been spot on. I think it matters more about the category of C9 than it does the original visa in terms of processing times.

I've noticed a faster pace for EAD for B1/B2.

edit: It doesn't exclude that those might have been straight forward cases, but the point is to exclude "unknowns". SInce you don't KNOW.. then take out the data points that are easy to take out --- such as those from different visa categories... also it makes sense that they would vary since for instance K1's are waived interview more often etc.. Any difference in procedure would potentially generate a difference in processing times... In any case, it's an unknown.

This is not entirely true. I received my EAD approval at day 88 and I've seen person's who filed after me from K1 visa got there's weeks before mine.. So I think it's safe to say that they really don't have an order of doing things. Also I have a friend who is also adjusting from B1/B2 who filed about 2 days before me and still not yet  approved....
