Good morning everyone, hope it was a good weened. If someone can help me with this question, it will be very kind of you - some of you mentioned DHS cashed the check through ACH transfer. I am wondering how ACH transfer works. Do you remember if this was a pending transaction in the morning? You know when someone deposit a check in an account, it shows up as a pending transaction earlier in the day and it clears by the end of that business day. But a debit transaction goes through instantly.

Does ACH transfer work more like a check or a debit transaction?

I think I just found an answer, it seems an ACH transfer works more like a personal check and a wire transfer works more like a debit card payment:

http://www.finance.umich.edu/node/2149

What is the difference between a wire and an ACH?

A wire is a real-time method of transferring immediate funds and supporting information between two financial institutions and is relatively expensive to use. An ACH is similar to a wire transfer only it uses a batch-process. Transactions received by the bank are processed in batches and funds are not available in the beneficiary account until the next business day. ACH transfers are less expensive than wire transfers.

I'm worried because my husband and i will be moving to Chicago during the first week of Jan and i don't want to miss the biometrics appointment if it's scheduled before we update our new address...which we don't know yet!

Should i try to contact uscis or wait more days? Thanks!

Hey I am in the same boat as you. Maybe they will just send NOA1 in the mail sometimes they forget email/text I guess. and they usually cash check a day or two before issuing NOA1 from what I've noticed of other people.. Hopefully we receive it in the mail this week because I am really worried too at this point!

Hi everyone,

We have our biometrics appointment today. Hopefully it's quick and easy :-)

Good luck! Let us know how it goes !

I think they suggest to wait 30 days before contacting. That said, you're in a somewhat special situation since you are moving. I don't see that it can hurt to give them a call. It's a bit tricky to reach them atm, without receipt number, cause they are changing their automated response system. I think you'll reach them if you choose the option of checking on current case and then no receipt number...well I hope... good luck :) The number is 800 375 5283 in case you don't have it.

Good luck to you :) Well don't think you need it unless you burnt of your fingerprints or smth similar

According to my status on the uscis case check (that is now updated so I can see it) my fee was accepted the same date as my NOA1 text and e-mail notice. I did send a cashier's check though, so the funds would have been available to them instantaneously. If it's a personal check I guess it would have to clear?

Don't be worried though. Both you guys' are still not outside of normal processing time for NOA1's. That said, I know the wait just utterly sucks!! If you're a K1 March filer..you're used to it though ;) Granted my NOA1 came really fast this time, but I'm gonna just sit back and enjoy this ride.... It's gonna be the longest vacation I've had for years!!! why stress it all to waste ;) hahahaha

Also I just had to put in a service request cause they put one of my 3 (!!!) first names as a middle name on the EAD application and left out the hyphenation that I decided to go with as my married last name, on all of them.

I really just called to ask if it was needed, and she said for the sake of not having validation problems in the future for SSN/employment etc. I should get it corrected to exactly as I will be using it. Which ofc makes total sense.... :P

It's just funny cause already the SSA lady was cracking up at how long my name is/was when I applied for my card lol It didn't fit in their system so it had to be sent off to USCIS for manual verification.... why this name mooommm...whyyyyyyy???? :goofy::rofl:(L)
