Approval arrived in the mail yesterday! Letter is dated 10/23 and is signed by the Center Director who is local. Case status on USCIS is still showing as fees were waived.

@meehan Congrats on your approval! Can you share the name of the person who signed your letter as well as the city in the address below it?

Hey guys, asking here since I assume some of you already started filling in your N400 applications. I noticed there's a place where it asks you to write the total number of days spend outside the USA during the last 5 years.

For those of us who have only been in the USA for the last 3 years (naturalization after marriage), writing down the complete dates will make it seem as if we were out of the country for 2 whole years :S Isn't that bad or something? Should we only put down travel dates from the day we became residents onwards?

AOS Journey:

9/19/2014: AOS Package (i130, i485, i765 and i131) sent to Chicago lockbox using USPS Certified mail

12/3/2014: EAD and Advanced Parole in Production :dancing:

12/12/2014: EAD/AP Card received

1/23/2015: Interview is Scheduled for February 27!

1/28/2015: Interview Letter Received

3/10/2015: Greencard Received

12/3/2016: Filed i751 at California Service Center

12/4/2016: Filed N400 - Dallas TX

2/18/2018: i751 Case transferred to Local Office

2/26/2018: i751 Case received at Local Office

1/5/2018: i751 Case Transferred And New Office Has Jurisdiction

3/5/2018: Another update saying i751 Case Transferred And New Office Has Jurisdiction

5/7/2018: Received Letter stating i751 Case transferred to National Benefits Center, Lee's Summit, MO 64064

5/30/2018: Interview scheduled for N400

7/11/2018: Attended interview and was informed it will be a combo N400/I751 interview

8/6/2018: N400 Approved

8/7/2018: I751 Approved

9/5/2018: Oath Ceremony missed due to travel abroad and letter sent to USCIS to reschedule ceremony

10/2/2018: Officially a US Citizen!

It's only applicable from the day you became a permanent resident moving forward because USCIS will count how many months you were out from the country from the day you became permanent resident so they can check if you qualify.

Out of curiosity, has anyone signed up for electronic email alert and/or mobile alert for their ROC case status? So far I have not heard a peep out of them. During the AOS, I did receive notifications.

As an aside, our NOA1 date was Nov 22, 2016. The online status shows last updated on 04/11/2017. I have no idea what they did on that date.

I know this question was asked before.

My 1 year extension is about to expire on 11/17/17, I am not planning to go outside USA, do I need still need to get an info pass or just leave it and do nothing and wait for the 10 year GC?

Thank you for the info!

You certainly don't have to get a stamp, just majority of the people feels safer that way. It does not affect your actual status in any way.

(However, it was pointed out by someone earlier that technically residents MUST have proof of their status with them at all times, and technically it is considered a misdemeanor if you don't. With this being said, I have never in my life heard that anyone had any issues with this. I did the stamp, but I am obviously not going to carry my foreign passport on me every time I live house...)

I can tell from Informed Delivery that I am receiving something from USCIS today, but I probably won't be able to get to it before tonight. How can you guys tell from the envelope if it's an approval? NOA1 is 11/7.
