K-1 to apply for SSN

Scandi, you can e-mail CBP or call to get your I-94 corrected. I e-mailed dtwi94corrections@cbp.dhs.gov because I couldn't find myself when entering my information and within a week it was updated and corrected.

Thank you! I've sent them an email, we'll see if there's anything they can do.

I wonder if I should go again tomorrow and ask them to give me a SSN anyway despite three first names?

Okay, thanks for helping! :) I think I'll just not bother with the SSN, it seems very difficult to get it right and I don't even think I need a SSN either way. Hopefully I won't be the only American resident without a SSN. :D

First, check with your closest CBP deferred inspection site, and make sure your name was entered correctly. If it appears on your I-94 correctly, then skip this step.

You can try applying at a different SSA office, or just file for your AOS, EAD and AP in your correct married name. Then, once you get your EAD/AP in your correct married name, go to the SSA office with your passport, EAD and marriage certificate. They should be able to issue you the SSN correctly then. Your SSA office sounds like a PITA with unhelpful, uninformed workers. That is all too common, unfortunately.

You can also wait until you have your actual green card, if you are not planning on working with the EAD while waiting for the AOS approval. Then your SSN will be issued without the 'DHS authorization' stipulation printed on it.

You will need one though, so get it with the EAD or green card if you don't want to bother with it again before then.

Went again today but to another office. This lady basically said more or less the same thing as the first one: I have three first names, no middle names and one surname in the immigrant database, and my last middle name is cut in half. However, this lady tried entering all my given names (first and middle names) into the space for the first name and could only fit my first, one of my middle names and the first letter of my second middle name with no spaces in between! :blink:

So when my card finally arrives (after they have verified my name with the immigrations) it'll be one loooong name and then my surname, omg.

Instead of

First name: MARIANNE
Middle names: JULIE MARGO
Last name: HERNANDEZ

It's

First name: MARIANNEJULIEM
Last name: HERNANDEZ

:rofl::lol:

Yes it'll work for now, but it looks freakin' funny. My fiancé joked and said he's not quite sure he wants to marry a woman with a name like that. :lol:
