I have a question about the vaccines for the medical exam. I tried searching and I wasn't able to find an answer as most of the posts on this on visajourney were a few years old.

The medical letter shows a whole bunch of vaccines that are needed. But it also says the doctor will determine which are necessary based on age and medical condition. More research shows that they will only require the ones that are appropriate on the CDCs age schedule. So, here's the schedule I was able to find from the CDC. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/downloads/adult/adult-schedule-easy-read.pdf

The way I read all this is that my wife, who is 39, would not be required to get anything that's highlighted in blue unless she has other risk factors. Am I reading this correctly or does she need the whole list?

Thanks,

Here are the actual instructions given to the panel physicians: http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/vaccination-panel-technical-instructions.html

However, the doctor in my husband's country is telling him he needs vaccines that he does not need according to these directions. He either doesn't know what he's doing or is outright cheating people. We decided to let it go and just do whatever the doctor says in order to get the approval; but after my husband has successfully immigrated, I'm going to make a complaint to the embassy. (My husband, not being a self-righteous American, rolls his eyes and doesn't see the point, but I can't let this slide.)

Hello Dwheels,

Had my medicals yesterday at Qlife Hospital VI. Cost was N122,125.00. I have another vaccination in the next one month of which I have to pay another N24,000.00. Cost of medicals varies based on age preference.

Result: Scheduled for pickup after two weeks.

I have a question, Do I have to schedule a biometric appointment also? I see people on here scheduling for biometrics, Do I need to do that here in Nigeria? Thanks.

No only India and Mexico has scheduled biometrics. You do your at interview.

So you went and did extra shots? Like HEP A which is not required? There's no shots we need follow ups to. Remember you are moving to the US not a 3rd world country.

But thanks for the info N122K Wow.

Congrats on the expedited approval.

All contacts will be with the CDJ embassy going forward not NVC.

You would have to reach out to the embassy for any inquire with your case.

So, does that mean CDJ will have the interview date and not the NVC?

My case was completed on Sept 26 and just requested an expedite interview.

Thanks

Thats correct. The embassy will be the one that schedule your interview.

So reach out to them as soon as your status on ceac changes to "Ready" thats an indication that the embassy receives your case.

Got my interview for November 29. I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but how long is it usually between interview and actually having the visa in our hands? Our lease runs out at end of December so we need to be out of here by then. Thanks for any help!

congratulations.

Heads up, My wife and kids all had to have a Varicella Vaccination when they attended the medicals. They all had it previously, but required it again at physical portion of medicals. 30 mil each. Just wondering if she could have got it at a pharmacy or clinic cheaper.

That is absolutely ridiculous! But, it's just how it goes I guess. Not much you can do about it :/

Didn't see your other post until after I replied.

My wife had some hepatitis injections (I think "B") at her regular clinic. Her doctor told her she would need them before the medical exam. maybe check that and update varicella. Everything else was ok if your family has had their normal vaccinations in the past.

Oh, and my wife is 38.

This is what came in our instructions packet. doesn't help much. (attachment)
