What were some expenses you had once moving to the US? I'm trying kind of figure out how much money we should save up before the move. Waiting for the NAO2 and I know you can prolong the interview if needed.

Marriage license, marriage ceremony, certified copies of marriage certificate, aos, day to day expenses, rent, groceries, etc

It's not necessarily helpful to know what others saved. A good rule of thumb would probably be to have 3 - 6 months worth of cost-of living saved up to cover you while you're possibly not working/job seeking or incurring larger than usual costs due to the move. So, whatever it would cost for you to pay your bills etc. in the area you're moving to.

If you don't need all that money, then you've got yourself your emergency fund for the future!

Remember to add in costs for relocation - finding a new home, potentially renting a home while you're looking for a new one (I do not recommend paying for rent in London and SF at the same time - we had to do that for a couple months, and it was ALL THE $$$) or hotel costs, flights, fees for realtors, shipping your possessions, buying new household items (particularly large electronics that may not work UK->US), a car if you're moving somewhere that you must drive (+insurance, registration) etc.

Deposits. If you do not have a (good) US credit history, many places including the gas and electricity company etc will require a deposit.

This is not bills or anything at writing above but my son and i needed new clothes since we are from Denmark and moved to Georgia where it is very hot so our danish clothes/shoes was way to warm for this weather.

Then also just other stuff like hairdryer and so on .... just a lot of stuff here and there.

Health insurance is going to be one of the biggest monthly expenses. Maintaining a car. Phone bill. Wedding expenses. There are certainly lots of more expenses to consider, but this will all depend on your living situation once you arrive. The cost of AOS. Suitcases. We put any amount earned for over three years toward our savings. If you're just starting to save now, you won't have that long.
