My wife has a 2 year green card that is going to be expiring in April. I'm just wondering what is the process to start working on 10 year green card? Do we wait for a mail from USCIS or do we need to start applying by ourselves? How does this phase work. Thanks Guys.

Window is 90 days before GC expiration, so January. Don't rely on the reminder notice that may or may not come 3-4 weeks before the 90-day window.

Start collecting ROC evidence before the Holidays kick in and everything's hectic.

Here is a link to a date calculator to figure out when your 90 day window opens. You should apply within that 90 day period.
