Evident of relationship

I am just looking at the 'what to prepare for the interview' section from my local consulate, and it requires proof of relationship. it suggested family photographs, letters, phone bills, remittance receipts, joint assets, school record, etc.

As of right now, I only have family photographs...

My husband and I married on the 8th December, 2012, and we came to Hong Kong after that, then we would spend everyday together, so it's rare for us to write letters to each other. Also, when we were living in Hong Kong, we would have our own bank accounts, phone bills, etc, so we don't really have anything joined. So is there anything else that I can use as evident?

Think outside the box of what is written on that page. Do you have any receipts from activities you did together, passport stamps, boarding passes, etc.?

well, we do have stamps on our passport which indicate we have visited places together! Thanks for the hint~

It seems that photos carry a lot of weight. But you can try to do some other things in the meantime. Has your husband visited the US with you already? If he's able to visit the US, you can try to get his name on your bank account. I recently had success with doing that and some other members on this forum have as well.

Do you have any mail at all from when you lived at the same place? Include mail under your name and his name, but going to the same address. They just want to see that you both live(d) at the same place. Even junk mail counts!

Are you still living together? If so, I can give you some other ideas. If you're living apart, it might be better to focus on regular communication like Skype/social media chats, emails, etc.

He's living in America at the moment and I'm in Hong Kong. We do have letters coming to our address in Hong Kong, so that would work.

You can use text messages, skype chats/logs, facebook messages, emails. I don't know about Facebook, but with Skype you can just copy and paste from your chat history. I think in your case the photos and passport stamps/plane tickets are going to be stronger evidence, that and any mail you had going under the same address. Still, it's always good to have the chat/online communication as a back up, just in case.

Another thing you can do: if your husband buys you any gifts, he can have them sent to your address in HK (vice versa, you to his address in the US) and those receipts/invoices will be helpful as well. Any birthday/holiday cards, flowers, even packages you ordered for each other or your new life in the US could be helpful, too.

Also, you can have your parents/family members/close friends write statements that they've known about you and your husband for x number of years and that you are a bona fide couple. It's not the strongest evidence but it does help in cases when you don't have a lot to show from over the years.
