If the CO was pretty sure he wouldn't approve us, he wouldn't have requested the resume and he would have given back the passport..... right?!?! I didn't sleep at all last night. I'm physically ill imagining what could happen. I cannot move to Russia for a long time - my kids are still very young and need to see their grandma and dad. But even they miss my fiance terribly and will bw devastated if he can't come to the US.

At this moment in time, you need to relax and just wait. You are just getting yourself riled up for no reason, which only makes things worse. The immigrations process is a waiting game.

In theory, yes. But as I understand, that would only help if there was a question of the validity of our relationship. The question was why my fiance marked on a previous DS-160 (for a B-2 visa) that he was in a common law marriage not all that long ago (technically when we considered ourselves in love but not yet engaged). Loads of people meet other people when they are still in a marriage. It seems most CO's look past this. My fiance thought common law marriage best described his living situation - not single, not divorced, but not legally married. Now he understands that he should have marked single. But it's neither here nor there now. If the CO says that he had a material misrep, it will take a waiver (IF it will be approved) and then the CR-1 process. I think I can handle a denial. I don't know how to cope with a lifetime ban on entering the US. My mind has gone to worst case scenario, and I just don't know how likely it is. I've read some really discouraging posts about this. I just hope the CO says, ok, that was a really stupid thing to say but I see why you said it. I hope he doesn't assume the worst about my fiance. My fiance is incredibly honest and ethical - he often overthinks things and here, it's caused him trouble.

Yeah, it is scary thinking about that. I'm glad I haven't read the discouraging posts, but I feel like getting a lifetime ban would be for something really serious? Anyway, they did take the passport so sit tight and wait and see what they say!
