Hi Everyone,

I live in NJ and filed my I751 back in September 2016 as well.

I sent my petition to VSC, and the timeline is:

VJName.............Date of I-751.....NOA1 Date....Biometrics.....Approved
holmdel..............09/06/16........09/12/16......10/17/16......

I traveled aboard in March this year. I had my passport stamped before went onto the trip.

Waiting for the letter from USCIS, holding my breath :)

Just an update on my InfoPass appointment for the temporary I-551 stamp.

The security guy in charge of doing the xray on the contents of my sling bag took his sweet time and ended up having to scan my bag 3 times. Apparently, he thought the triangular Prada logo on the outside of my bag was a "dangerous weapon". Oh geez.

Anyway, I went up to the check in counter. Gave my appointment letter, original I-751 NOA extension letter, original biometrics letter, and green card. Then he gave me a stub/number.

Once my number showed up on the monitor, I headed to the USCIS agent and he asked for my stub, appointment letter, original I-751 extension letter, original biometrics letter, and green card. He then checked the information on his monitor, GAVE BACK MY GREEN CARD, then asked for my passport. After that, he stamped the temporary I-551 on my passport, wrote his endorsement on it, and then I was free to go. I did notice that the I-551 stamp was valid for a year from today, Aug. 29, 2017 and does not extend the conditional green card for another year (so 2 years from the date of expiry on the GC), unlike the extension letter which extends the GC expiry date for another year.

Anyway, I'm glad he gave me my conditional green card back. He says my GC is now "married" to my I-551 stamp and that I should have no problem with CBP. It seemed to me that I'm supposed to present both the expired conditional GC AND the I-551 stamp to CBP at the immigration counter at the airport?

Check my timeline for K-1 visa & AOS details

It must be that different officers do it differently in regards to the expired GC because my husband's was taken and we were told the I-551 stamp is all that's needed. I don't think you need the expired GC at the airport, but it might not be a bad idea to have both if you've got the option just in case. You can definitely get in on just the I-551 stamp though since that's a valid extension of permanent residency.

Nope. Stamp in passport is an I-551 in its own right. The only time a green card is "married" to anything is when it's expired and you have to carry around the letter with it.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

My NOA date is Sep 1, 2016 (CSC), so I went ahead and made an infopass appointment (Los Angeles office in downtown).

The guy at the first window was VERY strict regarding proof that we live in the area.

My Driver License has a San Diego address and he insisted on seeing a utility bill or something with a Los Angeles address.

Fortunately, we had a copy of the AR-11 (change of address from San Diego to Los Angeles) and then he finally started to look at the documents and gave us a ticket number to be called soon.

Talked to officer, got I-551 stamp for one year from date of infopass interview.

Green card was taken away.

Just a heads up for anyone in the LA area that it might not be easy to get through if you don't have proof that you live in an area assigned to that office.

I dont understand why they asked you for all the proof. When I called to USCIS and told them that was impossible to get infopass in Virginia they suggest me to get  app in other city close to me an d we drove one hour and half to Baltimore (Maryland) and we got the stamp without any questions ions about the address. Who understand them😱

My post was Los Angeles specific.

Different offices, different expectations.

The guy at first window checked for NOA, green card, passport and proof of address. He was not an officer. After checking those 4 things, he gave you the ticket with the number. There was no way around it.

One more thing about the Los Angeles office, there are infopass kiosks there to make appointments. I assume those work better than the online system. Might be worth it to try to drive there if no luck with the online appointment system.
