Probably of K-1 Visa Acceptance (age difference)

Hi, my boyfriend and I have been dating for a year and 7 months! There is an age difference of 15 years between us. I am 20 and he is 35.

We met each other on January 31st, 2015. We lived together here in NYC for the first 6 to 7 months of our relationship. Unfortunately, during month 7 of our relationship, he received a phone call from an immigration office saying that his visa he used to come here to the USA to study is about to expire, and he needed to go back to Brazil by August 1st. He was working at the NYU Law Department at that time.

He left to go back to Brazil on July 28th, and let's just say there were many waterworks going on in the JFK airport and the night before!

We have been FaceTiming every single night since July 28th to now! We actually just got through FaceTiming. ❤️

I recently saved up enough money to go visit him and his family in Brazil. (He helped with the expenses as well, of course!) I went to Natal, Brazil, at the end of May of 2016 and stayed for two weeks. I honestly cannot describe what it was like to see o amor da minha vida (the love of my life) after 10 months of just FaceTiming!

So, the question is: what is our probability of getting accepted for the fiancé visa considering I am 20 and he is 35? We have plane tickets, visas, pictures, videos, FaceTiming calls every night, messages, receipts for traveling and staying in Brazil, and I even just stayed in the apartment we lived in while he lived here to justify that our relationship is the real deal!

I think you guys have a pretty good solid chance. Honestly I've seen much bigger age gaps and your both still young!

Your evidence is solid and have pictures and proof you guys met and even living together and have visited etc. send all that proof in and don't worry about the age difference. Your 20 he's 35 your still young and personally I've seen a lot of different people with bigger age differences get approved. It also doesn't seem too uncommon because I'm assuming there's no major religious difference that doesn't culturally or religiously "accept" age differences.

Good luck and I'm sure you guys will have an approval in no time :) your relationship seems like the real deal here

There's a 15 year age difference between me and my husband, it wasn't an issue and it didn't come up once when we were going through the visa process.

It should't be a problem, best of luck to you both!

For Latin America, this difference shouldn't raise an eyebrow.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Too bad you didnt marry and just adjust. Either way age is nothing and your female so its even less of an issue if any at that.

You guys are doing everything by the book and they will see that.
