Make sure you figure out why exactly you were rejected last time; a K1 fiance visa is for people who are engaged, so saying so would not have lead to a denial.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thank you kastrs and penlguin_ie.She said in my country Constitution, engagement is the real thing. The other forms are just formality. That was what I had on the form given to me.

**** two threads by husband and wife merged to provide better answers *****

I think members got confused by your first question because it shows you being from Jersey, and this would not be an issue in the UK. In Nigeria yes, a formal engagement may make you "too married for the K1, but jot married enough for the CR-1".

Lagos is one of the most difficult embassies to get approved through. Make sure you have a lot of evidence of bonafide relationship, and that you have proof of all visits together. If the USC can come and be with the foreign spouse at interview, it may help.

Yes engagement party to Nigerians is usually the Brides price paid and all that. You showing pictures with you both in your traditional dress. A no go.

as far as preparing go to the guides there are standard questions asked. You may be asked them or not. No one has the same kind of interview its all very case by case. The bottom line is knowing your spouse and knowing everything asked. Were they work, live, what they drive, habits, family, etc. All things anyone in a bonafide marriage would know one another.

Check the reviews of your country of those who've had their interviews so you can get an idea of what they will ask. There's no guarantee they'll ask you the same questions. If you know your spouse and have pictures, proof, etc. should be fine. Just be honest and if you don't know something be truthful about it don't panic or lie. My hubby couldn't remember the year I was born but they then asked my age and he knew. So just relax and be honest.
