Hello All,

I'm in the process of filing a K-1 Visa and I just lost my job. I am the petitioner and my fiancé is in Jamaica. My two sisters said they will be co-sponsors. However I'm not sure how to complete the I-134 for myself. Also, does anyone know if my fiancé could still get approve seeing I'm not currently working? I can go back to do contract work but I don't have a contract yet and my fiancé have his interview in August. I also live with one of my sister. Been living with her for a few years now.

Hi there, I think you should be fine as long as your sisters are 125% above the poverty guidelines.

I don't work I never have and my father is my cosponsor and meets the guidelines and my fiancé had no problem we got our NOA2 and now just waiting on NVC and embassy. I've seen others also use their family members as cosponsor and as long as they meet the guidelines they are usually fine.

You will only be able to have one co-sponsor. They alone must make over the poverty limit, you can't combine incomes unless they are married.

It shouldn't matter if you have a job as long as you have a co-sponsor but I would try to get one asap.

It does not have to be family.

Also, you both fill one out completely. So you'll turn in two.

Just to clarify, you are not at the stage where your Affidavit of Support is even looked at. That's only done at the embassy. While I don't think you'll have issues as long as you have a co-sponsor that meets the poverty guidelines, I wanted to let you know that the fact you've reached NVC doesn't mean that your Affidavit of Support was accepted.

Hello All...Hope everyone is doing well. I have a question. Can any one tell me how a Sponsor for a K-1 would fill out the I-134? Especially the "intend" section. How long should someone put for room and board? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I did some research online and it says to put "N/A for K1 Fiance Visa". It didn't answer whether I should check in the box for Intend or Not Intend.

Could someone confirm?

Follow the example form, it says to not check any box and instead add "N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence)".

You can obviously add that AND check the "intend" box if you feel like it, it won't hurt your case.

The initial question was for the co-sponsor. I am the petitioner and my sister is the co-sponsor. If she will provide room and board, for how long should she put?

Does anyone know how I complete the I-134 if I'm unemployed? I just lost my job and my fiancé have his interview coming us. I have a co-sponsor but not sure if I just put unemployed on the I-134. I sent my fiancé a completed I-134 before but now I'm not working. Please HELP!

Hello VJs. Can anyone tell me how to complete the I-134 if I get disability? I begin the K-1 Visa process before I was on disability and now I'm not sure what to do. My sister is willing to be a co-sponsor and she makes way more tan the poverty level for 3 people. Please help if you can?

    6/7/2016 Didn’t get case number so case went to supervisor look *****(new time frame is 2 weeks to get your case and invoice number form NVC.)

    6/9/2016 Case Number and Invoice number received

    6/10/2016 Form DS-261 Received

    6/10/2016 Form DS-261 Sent

    6/14/2016 AOS BILL INVOICED

    6/14/2016 AOS BILL PAID

    6/16/2016 IV BILL Assigned

    6/17/2016 IV BILL PAID

    6/17/2016 IV and AOS packet arrived at NVC

    6/17/2016 Scan Date

    6/20/2016 DS-260 SENT

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

As to your question on disability- yes, you put that on your I-134.

Your sister can absolutely send a cover letter saying she is willing to provide room and board for however long is neccesary,l but what matters is her income, as evidenced by current paystubs and recent taxes, not a promise like room and board.
