Has happened to me a few times over the past 2 days. It seems that the web server is working hard. Maybe a fragmented hard disk is to blame?

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Flood control is when people post more often in a certain amount of time. That has always been enabled :P. What is limited is searching when there is a higher load.

I wonder how much the load situation would be improved if the Off Topic forum wasn't here... or maybe if post credits weren't awarded for flooding the Off Topic forum with dribble.

That and any post that says simply 'congratulations' not being awarded credit either.

...Why not go all they way and include the "dribble" posted in Polls too? Seems the more tacky polls generate alot of traffic too.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

That would be heaven! There is so much ####### posted in OT, simply to get a heart on one;s name....why not do away with the hearts altogether & only have date joined show on user profile? WOuld cut down on a lot of unnecessary traffic.

Agree on the hearts stuff.... I think it's obviously beneficial to any website to have as much traffic as possible; however I was responding to those on this thread commenting about the flood control kicking in due to large volumes of traffic.

Every time I hear that someone has received their NOA1, Touched, NOA2, NVC completed I feel their excitement and joy. Just as i feel their pain when the are put on AP or are requested something at the interview they don't have, or are left behind in their date forum, because everyone has moved on to the next step. Congratulations are important.
