Is it just me . . .

. . . or does the fact that a 'celebrity' can go almost anywhere in the world with a 'laundry list' and pick up a child and return home in just a few days is just a LITTLE annoying?

I have friends who have waited two or three years to get a child they want to adopt and have to jump through about a million hoops to get approved!

Of course the fact that my wife and I started filling out papers to be together last August and we STILL have another four or five months to go doesn't have anything to do with me being upset!

Sorry, just had to vent a bit!

In 3rd world countries, most "hoop jumping" goes away for a few $$$.

The Government official: "sorry, you need to file this document, that document and wait".

The Government official with your money in hand: "your paperwork seems to be in order, have a nice trip"!

I see what you are saying; however.. there are loads of people in N. America paying for adoptions overseas and who wait 2-5 years to see their little ones. Not only do they have to deal with the paperwork etc. in the Foreign country, but their home country does background, psychological and home studies. They just don't let anyone adopt in North America, and you can't pay off N. American authorities who are involved in the entire process - Unless you are a celebrity I guess!

No. Goto Cambodia, and give the cops some money after you assault someone. You won't see a court day ever if you have money.

Or, better yet. Everyone will treat you like a king if they think you have loads of money the moment you step out from the airport!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Very corrupt in Cambodia. Police officers sell toursist their police badges then arrest them and demand a bribe to drop the charges. Not sure what the charge would be though. One offered me his badge, i think its cos they don't get paid very much. I was also ripped off by a corrupt border official but its all part of the experience i guess.

I even had friends who were smoking some ganja and in walked a cambodian police man with a very stern loook on his face. He sat down and took out his own stash an smoked with them. Then had the cheek to demand money not to arrst them.

Tell me about it. If you don't have a VISA, at the airport they charge foreigners twenty dollars for the VISA. It's supposed to be FREE! However, they only charged me five dollars for the VISA because I speak Khmer.

Oh, and you know what. You cannot leave the country via airplane without paying the $25 passenger tax! Thank goodness I had $50 left on me.
