I believe most of the time they give RFE for saying you have met on a dating site. The reason is because you didn't mention it's not a marriage broker.

I don't there's any logic to their "met online" RFE's. Me and my husband stated we met on OkCupid and never received an RFE but I've seen people stating the same thing and they had to prove OkCupid was not a marriage broker. Sure we lived together for a year so we could prove bona fide relationship but still. Why does some get an RFE and some don't when stating the same thing?

I've noticed this, too!! Why would they RFE people for OKCupid and Match.com, when these are very well-known sites and are obviously not IMB's? Or... and just hear me out here, because I know this idea is pretty crazy... go to the website provided and look up the terms of service, rather than spending a dollar to mail an RFE to someone, wait for it to come back, interrupt your current work to go back to the RFE'd petition from a few weeks ago, put the stamp of approval on it, etc. Can you imagine the possibilities if common sense prevailed?! Obviously, this idea wouldn't work for all websites, and if the sites aren't in English, I guess I understand the research a bit more. But come. on. already. The government has access to Google - use it!

I don't know what match.com or OKCupid is, perhaps it's the same thing for some of the agents at USCIS. Those who know won't give an RFE, but those who don't will? I don't know, maybe they could have a list over the most common dating websites so the agents could check it up easily and skip the RFE without having to google around.

Yes, I think it depends more on the person adjudicating than the actual website

It's 100% this. ^

It's the person doing the case, not the websites themselves.

My fiance and I met on OKcupid. If you email Okcupid they will send you a letter which proves that they are NOT A IMB. They will send you this email:

------------------------

Congratulations on your engagement! We at OkCupid are always happy to hear success stories such as yours.

OkCupid is not an international marriage broker as defined by the International Marriage Brokers Act. In fact, OkCupid is a free dating website with a few premium feature offerings. You should be able to show this email as the proof that you need. They can contact me at alice@okcupid.com if they have any questions. Please let us know if you need anything else.
Thanks,
Alice

-------------------------

ive done my research. If the website charges the same for both men and women then its NOT AN IMB! PERIOD! But its best to get proof which I did!

I've been reading that a lot of couples get RFE's for meeting on a website and they need to show proof that this website isn't a marriage broker site. This makes me so angry because I could have easily provided the Terms of Use for the site my fiance and I used had I known the USCIS would've wanted this information to start with. :ranting: However, the website we used wasn't a dating website at all. It's a website that connects people who are learning foreign languages. Does the USCIS RFE everyone who meets online? Are there any couples who didn't get an RFE for this?

No RFE here. We met using one of probably last places people would want to admit to meeting their partner but we used a lawyer also so perhaps that helped abit? I do not know alot of times it may come down to the individual whos desk your paperwork lands on or goes across.
