I asked some questions to a few of my friends who knew the area well and may have encountered this officer. Surprisingly they had. They did not have anything remotely pleasant to say about this officer in their encounters, in his often belligerent, expletive filled, and often threatening behavior. I think this individual was an equal opportunist that was dangerously ready to snap for a while.

I can buy that. To say it was racially motivated, like the attacks on the police officer is recklessness

Yet that's the immediate narrative whenever a white cop kills a black guy.

Actually the video alone is quite meaningless as to whether the shooting was justified or not anyway. I was surprised at her seemingly calmish demeanor as her boyfriend died next to her, though. The video was quite brutal.

Good luck!

yeah, you were surprised by the woman's demeanor as her 4 year old sits in the back seat and her boyfriend bleeds next to her and a cop continues to wave his gun around and seems a bit out of control of himself..

wonder why you target the black woman with your surprise. what do you know about the proper way to react in that very scenario?

Getting dragged to the police station and getting separated from that little girl pretty much sealed it with me. That grand jury needs to get convened and those officers need to enjoy their speedy trial.

Guess prison will be pretty boring as I guess they will spend it segregated.

I would say to be very cautious on the racial motivation of the terrorist. So far, I have not heard of the race of the shooter, but the chief has made comments such as ''they wanted to kill white people'' and they were ''angry about BLM movement''. He didn't say that the shooter wanted to ''further the cause of BLM''. I just found his careful wording unusual. Around the time of these shootings, social media was on fire. I'm referring to comments coming from white supremacist groups or white supremacist individuals who made claims of wanting to start a race war by intentionally shooting at white cops. This was further compounded when the police and media wrongly highlighted an African American man who was legally carrying a weapon last night. Immediately everyone assumed a great deal about the case, without facts. Racism is an insidious thing, but there are individuals who would do a lot in an attempt to start something no matter what race they are.

In the case of the officer, friends both white and black had disturbing encounters. In the case of the other officers, I believe they had numerous complaints against them previously. Police forces would do well to root out bad apples here. The community would support that.

Any time you are stopped, it is a good idea to put your hands on the dash or on the opening of the window so the officer can see them, and keep them there until told otherwise. If carrying, keep them there no matter what, until you convey to the officer(s) that you have a loaded weapon in the vehicle. Then, and ONLY then, move your hands or body as directed by the officer. Moving your hands out of sight while explaining to the cop you have a carry permit is not wise. These are things to think about all the time, if one chooses to carry a weapon.

Having laid out that advice for the less-gun-savvy crown here, I think the cop made a grave error in this case. And based on his tone as he shouted several expletives in the background of the video, he knew he messed up. I hope it wasn't racially motivated; doesn't seem to be just yet, but he porked it royally, IMHO.

If I did that here the officer would probably literally bust out laughing at me.
