Hi!

My husband and I have been searching the internet for the answer to the following question, but there are so many factors that we're just not sure.

My guy moved over here on a K-1 Visa from the UK. During that process, he had his medical exam, but deferred on some missing vaccinations at that time but passed the exam and was given an incomplete vacciation form (DS-3025) that they said he'd need. He later had the missing vaccinations done at his personal doctor's office, got an updated copy of his vaccination records from them, and then he travelled to the US.

Now that he's here, we've gotten married and are moving forward with the adjustment of status to permanent resident (I-485) but are unsure about how to proceed with the medical records and vaccination requirement. We went to a civil surgeon today to see if they could complete a new medical form (I-693) but they refused to do it without having a full medical redone for a huge fee. We showed them his personal vaccination records, the incomplete DS-3025, the receipt from the original medical and the I-693 instructions that say - to our understanding - he doesn't need a full medical again, but just an accepted confirmation that he's up to date. It's only been four months since the original medical and we thought the civil surgeon would just fill in part or all of a new I-693, or a new DS-3025 without having another medical.

Does he need to redo the medical because the vaccinations were done after his original medical by a non-USCIS doctor and if not, how should we proceed?

Thanks.

I'd shop around for a Civil Surgeon. Not all of them are crazy expensive, but it pays to call around and find out if you can do just that before you see them.

You have found the reason why getting complete on vaccinations before the visa exam is the wisest thing to do.

No he does not require a new medical exam. Yes, he needs the vaccination portion of the I-693 filled in by a civil surgeon since he lacked shots on the DS-3025. The problem is finding a civil surgeon who knows that and will do that for a reasonable fee.

You can read my pinned thread talking about if you need an I-693 here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/ for more detailed discussion.

Just to add, we had our full medical done for like 150 in our area, But when calling around the range was like 150/450. So make sure to call around!
