Hey All,

Just a quick one - we mailed our I-130 and supporting documentation to the Chicago Dropbox via DHL on April 25th. It was received and signed for at around 8am on April 28th. We included the relevant form to be notified by email or SMS, however we have not received NOA1 yet.

I notice here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/594506-noa1-not-received/ that this individual received email confirmation after 3-4 days.

Should we be worried / concerned at not having received an email yet?

Thanks

Zach

OK - its just a bit disconcerting when we see other people got a text/email really quickly. I see you got your text/email five days after delivery and I see a lot of folks get it in around the same amount of time.

Its hard to say - we got a check in US dollars from Bank of Cyprus who issued via their partner bank in the US, which is Citibank. The funds to cover the check were therefore immediately taken from our account as soon as we were issued the check. We will try to check with our bank on Monday to see if they can track whether its been paid out.

Keep in mind that the Chicago Lockbox is just the very first step. They don't actually process it. The Lockbox location will forward it to the actual processing/service Center. Once your petition has actually reached the processing/service center: California, Nebraska, Texas or Vermont, then you'll get the email/text followed with the NOA1 in the mail.

Some people never get an email notification despite submitting the form to do so. Hang in there.

I myself did receive an email on 30th March, but my notice was dated 24th March (so it took them a week to email after the routing), and I received the hardcopy 11th April. So sometimes the centre may have your application well before they actually tell you. I wouldn't be worried enough to ask them about it for probably another week to be honest.

And as someone else said, Chicago lockbox is just a routing point. I saw that when I got sent to Nebraska there are literally hundreds of applications for various visas with the same NOA1 date as me, so it's entirely possible they do them in batches.

Got married: 26th Sep 2013

I-130 Petition Process:

Sent petition to USCIS Chicago lockbox (via in-laws to put check in US$): 11 Mar, 2016

NOA1: 24 Mar, 2016 (email notification 30 Mar. Hardcopy 11 Apr)

Service Centre: NEBRASKA

NOA2: 3rd Aug 2016

Petition sent to NVC: 18th Aug 2016

NVC Stage

Case number assigned: 8th Sep 2016

Paid AOS Fee: 9th Sep 2016

Paid IV Fee: 14th Sep 2016

DS-260 submitted: 25th Jan 2017

AOS & IV Package sent: 25th Jan 2017

Expedite requested: 25th Jan 2017

Expedite approved (consulate only): 1st Feb 2017

Scan Date: 31st Jan 2017

Case Complete: 14th April 2017 (10 weeks 4 days)

Full expedite approved (bypass NVC to send file to embassy), however too late as I already had case complete 17th Apr 2017

Case arrived at Embassy: 21st April 2017

P4 letter received: 26th April 2017 (expedite at embassy stage so this came from the consulate, not NVC)

Medical date: 26th April 2017

Interview date: 4th May 2017 APPROVED!!

Visa received: 8th May 2017

POE (entered the USA): 15th May 2017

Thanks for the replies all. We didn't realize that Chicago forwards the packet to another office. That could explain the delay. We will wait another 4-5 working days before worrying! :)

So we still haven't heard anything and I was just wondering.

If they had some problem with our check, what exactly would happen?

Would they mail the entire pack back to us and make us resubmit it? Or would they assign a case number and then send a notification that we need to send another check?
