man, that suxs....i guess, the wages must be higher to allow this...i am glad i am in the midwest

I think they are somewhat higher. Six figure household incomes in central NJ is almost everyone. The middle class here is people in the lower 100s, lol.

New England is a great place to live, I'd rather have seasonal weather than it just been hot all the time or cold all the time, they have different season's all year thru, I'm in Rhode Island and love it here. :)

BFE! the *uncool* side - MA & RI border, but my family has 40 acres out there and I guess as parents age someone should be closer...blah blah blah.

I love the "uncool" side of CT .... my mom used to take me camping in the Patchaug State Forest when I was a kid.

I have to add .... I love reading threads about New England. I grew up in CT, but left when I was 17 to go to college and stayed away for 14 years. Moved back (to New Hampshire) last summer. It was a shock to my system when I went to buy a house though. I sold my house in Georgia (3 bedrooms, LR, kitchen, DR) for under 90,000 and here, cannot buy anything except a one room cabin for that price!!!

Yup, I have heard that from others as well. Selling RE in the NE and moving south is a form of arbitrage that you can only do once so it's important to make it count. Once you do it, you may very well find yourself locked out of the NE forever.

brother arijit and others..what is the attraction to live there, besides your current work? the weather is sh!tty allot of the times and the housing cost are unbelieveable..i moved around allot..lived in several states, but never fell in love with an area that made a $350,000 home a low buy.,,,

Friends. Family. Lots of racial diversity, which includes a huge population of people who are foreign born. Proximity to Manhattan and the enormous amount of cultural and professional options that come with that. There's more but those are the high points.

There are also many low points but the media covers those very well.
