UK Fiance/US Fiancee K1 -- if you've done this process, some questions

I would love to run down the process with someone who has done this before, particularly UK to US (i.e. go over what I have in my Visa application packet, how much all the fees come to, etc.) Is anyone willing to have a private convo with me?

My advice here is for both the applicant and the beneficiary to read. re-read, and read again together all the instructions. Both the official ones and our VJ guides. Our packet was as follows iirc:

check for $340

cover letter

Q 34.a statement of meeting

(2) G325A

passport photos for each G325A

(2) letters of intent to marry signed and dated

USC birth certificate photocopy

evidence of meeting within two years ( photocopies of all our passport stamps [since there were a lot of passport stamps to sort through I put post-it notes on the ones showing the most recent dates], photocopies of boarding passes, receipts for dinner and movies, photographs confirming locations we went to with the who/where/date on the back)

evidence of a relationship (this is really not needed to send, but some people do anyway. we sent copy of our engagement receipt, a few photocopies of congrats on engagement cards from relatives, and a few select photographs showing the course of our relationship from 11yrs ago to present, additional passport stamps also showed our visits to eachother. we did not send 1000s of emails, letters, cards, or messages.)

of course if there are any other documents needed for your case these will vary from person to person.

And then you wait, and we waited a long long time. Your wait will not be anything like that of course. You should expect at least a wait of a few months to get out of the USCIS process, and then a few more months to get through the medical/embassy process. The threads above were extremely valuable to us in completing that phase.

Further costs will be the payment for the medical (any shots received by Knightsbridge is an additional charge this is why it is more effective to get shots done ahead of time)

Paying the visa fee itself.

Once you marry then of course there's the $1070 fee to adjust your status.

£45 (ACPO) Police certificate just before petition approval

£250 (Knightsbridge Doctors) medical exam. Pay at exam.

$265 (Embassy) Visa fee prior to interview. Online pay.

$30 Courier fee if home delivery, $0 to pick up at a depot. Online.

$1070 (USCIS) Adjustment of Status/Work Authorization/Advance Parole (after marriage)

Plus transportation to London twice. Maybe hotel in London.

Passport photos. Maybe shots. Making photocopies.

Flight to US. Shipping your things to US or extra baggage on plane.

My best advice is read everything over and over again as previously stated in this thread. I personally found the process quite straightforward but we ALMOST slipped up by forgetting to provide evidence of support on top of the affidavit (it was faxed to me the night before the interview) so we got away with it.

Do not make the mistake that even though you know that you have honest intentions, immigration will know that. Read everything thoroughly, provide the correct documentation and you will be fine .

I would also defiantly 100% put in where you met and if it was online I'd go ahead and include the TOS and the website name in your application. I was held up by a considerable amount of time for an RFE for this information. I wish I had known before and included it. We would be a lot further along in the process (almost at interview stage) if I had. If you really want to go over it with someone give me a shout. I don't mind.
