Hello, I am a K1 visa applicant waiting for my interview this March 30. I've been gathering and preparing all requirements listed in the US embassy site. Are there people here who could kindly share me what other stuffs to prepare for me and my fiancee and who could give me idea on what will happen during the whole span of interview? I'm getting anxious of my upcoming appointment. I know, I shouldn't be but I guess I'm just excited, afraid or somewhat ambivalent. Thank you for your time and response:-)

Hi, we did it all on our own and it's not as bad as they make it seem.

First, I had the interview with a regular worker from the embassy. Just the regular questions, how did we meet, when, for how long we've dated, when did I propose, when are we getting married, my plans in the states, etc. I brought A LOT of papers, pictures, etc, and they asked for none.

After that, I had a very similar interview (same day, just after half an hour of the first interview) with the Consul. I think it helped a lot that my Fiancée and I have lived together for a few years down here in Chile.

Honestly, gathering all the information, getting the date and all the process before the interview, was way worse than the intreview itself.

Well my list would be in spanish since I'm from Chile but these were the documents they asked for me at the embassy:

Passport

ID

Birth certificate

Police records

Medical examination form

If serving in the army is mandatory in your country, or if you did it, certificate that your militar situation is ok

Evidence of the relationship

4 photos 2x2 inches (5x5 cms)

And the I-134 form

There are other papers they could ask for if you have already been married and if you have kids, but since none of those situations are my case, I didn't need them.

Hope that helps.

I also add,

make copies of all the documents, they might or they will ask you if you have made copies, if not, they will ask you to make copies and come back. Take the copy of the entire I-129f Petition and be prepared if they ask you to provide them with photo of you and your fiance as evidence you have met. Take some extra proof of financial support, such as your savings, bank accounts, real estate you own, it might not be needed but they might ask. Police record should be from your country and any other country you have lived in the past.

Most likely, you will be asked for more than one official and the consular and then given the oath and maybe few more questions...

Be honest with your answers...Relax and think of the staff at the Embassy are there to help you...During questioning, just make your answers brief and direct unless you were asked to explain in details.

Here are sample of the questions you might or might not be asked...but its a good thing that you know everything about your fiance, which am sure by now you should...

1) How did you meet your fiance?

2) When did you meet your fiance in person?

3) What does he work as in XXXX Company?

4) Have you live in other country other than the Philippines?

5) Do you know how much he earns?

6) Evidence of relationship, can you show me recent pictures of you and your fiance?

7) What is your fiance marital status?

8) What is your marital status?

9) Do you have any children? Does he has any children?

10) Were you both married before?

11) Have you been to America?

12) Have you ever been denied by US visa?

13) Do you know where your fiance is born?

14) He just naturalized this year?

15) When is his birthday?

16) What other games do you play, what other games did he play?

17) When did you both started dating?

18) Do you know his address?

19) Does he has any siblings?

20) Has he met your family?

21) What did he do in his previous job?

22) When did you meet in person?

23) How long did you both meet for?

24) Where did he stay when he was in Philippines?

25) Have you plan for the wedding?

These are sample questions that were asked in the past, might be asked and some of them might be asked twice by two officials conducting the interview including the consular.

If all goes well, they you will be told everything looked good, you will receive your visa and passport in the mail...so be sure you have the correct mailing address.

Good luck!

We have different category but my wife was only asked about affidavit of support. By that year, I was just got promoted but previous 2 years was not enough for household of two. She was asked like this: Your husband's financial income is just $5,000 over the limit, how can both of you survive in the USA?

- My wife stayed calmed but she felt intimidated and answered, "I have savings to spend for first 6-12 months, and I have the profession to use because being a GC holder permits me to work". Then stamped Approved and gave her a paper and instructions to queue for next step.

Good luck, just be yourself and answer the questions without any doubt.

Hello!

I would like to ask when was your I129F approved?

Our petition was approved last Feb 26 and the agony of waiting is really stressful.

Tried to call the NVC if they already received our case but we are having a hard time getting information through NVC.

How was your NVC process?

My fiance has her interview on Friday the 25th at 12:30 in Kathmandu.. the whole process is not too bad ( 4 months) but nerve wracking. I wish I was there with her but she will do fine. I have only my 2013 taxes due to my accountant corrupting the files but am sending in fathers as co-sponsor just in case even though I have assets.

Keeping fingers crossed and will fill out more in two days. :)

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

Jump over to the Philippines forum - there you will get answers to your questions relating to the process in Manila. Each embassy is slightly different so you can't go by experiences at those other embassies

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

Follow the embassy instructions letter as to what is required for the interview. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/K1-K2%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf
