Working under k1 visa

Quick question, once I enter US with K1 visa and get married right away, can I file for EAD work authorization without filing for AOS yet? (I understand it takes about 90 days to even get work authorization)

Yes, but its going to cost you more money. When you file AOS and include the EAD the EAD becomes free but when filing separate you will pay much more. If you are of with that go for it.

You can file for EAD before AOS and before the I-94 expires. When it arrives you will be eligible to work. The catch is that it expires when the I-94 does, cost $340 AND IS BASICALLY WORTHLESS.

Filing EAD with AOS is free.

Thank you, you both said same thing, when you say I-94, do we get that when we first get into US with k1 visa? does it last 90 days also?

I-94 is now online. You can get a copy from this link.

You should get I-94 with 90 days validity when you enter US.

It is $1070, not $1100.

Don't write the wrong amount check, or your whole AOS package will be returned to you.

Send the correct amount... not a penny more or less $1070.00

They will return your application if it is the wrong amount.

I'm guessing a money issue with filing for aos, but given all the information they realized it's not worth time money or hassle to do it separately.

I meant, it's better to do it how they tell me, to do it right away, instead of the EAD first then wait to file the AOS.

Look at the AOS as an investment in yourself. Sure, it costs $1070, but once you get your EAD, you can get a job and you'll have "earned back" that $1070 pretty soon.
