We filed the I-751 to remove conditions for my wife and 21 years old stepdaughter in October 2006 with NOA1 dated 11/1/2006.

If any VJ members remember...I was very unsure about whether to file my stepdaughter jointly as my wife's dependent child or separately since she was already turned 21 years old. Fortunately we filed them both together jointly and saved money by doing so since my stepdaughter piggybacked on my wife's single fee. My stepdaughter's status is derived through her mother and our marriage regardless of the fact that my stepdaughter was already 21 years old. The proof is in the fact that both were issued Green Cards. This is FYI in case someone else is in a similar situation with an adult child.

Anyway, I was quite surprised this morning when I called home from work and my wife informed me that the 10 year Green Cards arrived in the mail in separate envelopes and are valid until March 6, 2017.

I have kept up with the processing times for the I-751 at Texas Service Center and the last update of February 20 (posted as of today) stated that they were currently working on I-751 dated July 25, 2006. So I did not expect any activity on our cases any time soon.

So...to just get these 10 year Green Cards in the mail without an interview or expectation that they would be issued so soon was quite a shock. We are relieved and happy.

Unfortunately the USCIS misspelled my stepdaughter's last name by one letter. They spelled it with an "o" instead of an "a". Good grief! Of course we will have to get it corrected.

Best wishes to all.

PJ

Congrats on the approval.

I applied to NSC in Sept. 2006 and still haven't got my approval. I actually haven't heard anything since the touch I got the day after my biometrics. I am starting to get concerned that my case has been "lost" in the USCIS pile of paperwork.

I was unable to send in my daughter's I-751 with mine because she followed-to-join, so she didn't have her GC for 2 years at the time I applied for removal of conditions for myself.

Congrats PJ from a G7 buddy :innocent: :innocent:

Thanks Kud! Of course I remember you from the heydays of G7. Too bad the site has pretty much died. I still keep in touch with some of the folks from there. Hope all is well with you. Life at our house has its moments (good & bad)...but we're settled in the routine as a family. ;)

Congrats Peejay,

May I ask what kind of evidence you sent along with your application?

I going from memory here at work. Some of what I sent was probably useless, but seemed like good evidence at the time.

1) Copy of all 3 of our medical insurance cards through my work.

2) Copy of all 3 of our driver's licenses showing the same address we all live at.

3) Copy of our proof of auto insurance that has all 3 names and same address.

4) Copy of joint monthly car loan payment invoice showing wife and I as joint borrowers / owners.

5) Copies of bank statements from different banks showing joint accounts we have together.

6) Copy of my life insurance policy showing wife as beneficiary.

7) Copies of various medical and dental bill invoices of my wife and stepdaughter showing me as the insurance policyholder with our address on it.

Thanks everyone for the congrats! ;)

Congrats! Glad to hear that it all went smoothly for you! Well, except for the middle name snafu. I hope it's consistent among the SCs since we'll be filing with the NSC soon and have a situation similar to yours.

Thanks for the update.
