05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

Fill out the ds261. Don't wait for NVC for anything. It's Upto you now. After you've filled in the ds261, call nvc and ask them to process it over the phone. Pay your fees, send the aos and iv package to them. Once the payments say "paid" in the online portal, then it will open up the ds260 for you to fill in. NVC will email you when they have received the documents. Then... You wait for them to review everything and schedule your interview.

what about the affidavit aren't they supposed to send that and other forms to be filed?

should I submit via email?

how do I contact the nvc?

I am unable to call them as it is an American phone number

No, you get everything yourself. You print the i-864 from NVC's website. You collect all the financial and supporting documents. The ds-261, the fees and the ds-260 are all done online, at certain times. I would suggest reading up on the guides on to of VJ, as you don't seem to be too familiar with the process and where to go next.

You can still call NVC from abroad, I probably called NVC from Sweden about 40 times during our NVC process. It's usually easier to call them first thing when they open in the morning.

As far as I know, only Canada does electronic processing, everyone else have to do it online and send packets and forms in regular post. But you may wanna check that in the Australian forum.

Hi asew50,

Case numbers beginning wth 'SYD' can opt to do either mail processing or email/electronic processing (but once selected, you cannot change your choice later). Check the section 'Method 2' on this NVC webpage.

But please make sure that you have received a mail/email from NVC with your Invoice ID number before you try to choose an agent using the DS-261 or to pay any fees or send any documents. In our case, the Invoice ID number and more detailed information (including answers to the questions you asked on this thread) were sent to us in the second email we received from NVC. The first email we received from NVC only said that they received the case and what our case number was. I am guessing you have only received this first email/mail so far.

Hope this helps.
