Hi everyone

I have recently received my K1 visa and will be heading off to get married. Our wedding ceremony will be in June in the U.S. I have invited my best friend and her long time boyfriend to the wedding, they both live in Ireland. However she is Irish and won't have problems but he is Romanian but has been living in Ireland legally for many years. He is about to schedule his visa interview in Dublin and i was wondering if there is anything i can do to help him obtain a visa, for example a Letter of Invitation and our Save the Date. As i am on a K1 we have not sent out formal invitations yet because my fiance and I would like to do those together when i arrive in the states next month. Having been through a B2 interview as well as a K1 interview i know how prepared one needs to be. I am concerned that he won't get the visa as we have never met, he is technically my friends plus one and therefore really does not have a direct relationship with either my fiance or myself. If he is denied that means my friend won't come to the wedding either, so it is very important he gets this visa.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely nothing you can do to help someone get a vosa (even more so because you are not a US citizen).

An applicant for a US visitor visa must demonstrate to the Consular Officer's satisfaction that they will return home after their US visit. He could take his Irish residency, property ownership, job related documents.. as well as any others that show strong ties to Ireland.. to the interview. Good luck

No third party can positively influence the outcome of a B2 interview (but they can influence one negatively!) Invitation letters merely show why someone wants to GO to the US, not why they will LEAVE the US. Invitation letters cannot and will not guarantee that the prospective applicant will not work illegally in the US....not much else needs to be said. Invitation letters are window dressing, nothing more. They cannot make a poor case or an iffy case better; they have more of a chance to make a case worse.

the fact he is dating an irish girl, living in ireland and they have property/jobs should help.. just show as much proof he will return as possible. i think you have a good chance:) i wouldnt worry about an invitation letter - its a waste. but he can have the save the date and obviously a return ticket. can he go to the tourist interview with her? maybe that would help! show that he does have a gf in ireland. good luck

a B2 interview is for the applicant only; no one else is allowed to 'participate' (save occasionally for a translator if necessary or if the applicant is frail, sometimes a caregiver may tag along, but not SOs, relatives, etc, who think they can do all of the talking...)

I would have thought a CO issuing such a person a tourist visa should be shot?

Why can she not travel by herself? Airlines are pretty good with medical issues etc.

Thank you all for your feedback

It's not that she can't travel without him, it's that she would like to.I guess if push came to shove she would come without him.

what does the fact that you have never met him have to do with him getting a visa? Answer:nothing.

He must apply and be approved on his own merits, and his merits alone. There is nothing you or anyone else can do for him. The visa is about him and proving he has strong ties to home.

When a foreigner appears at a U.S. Consulate to request a new visa or renew a previous one of any sort, he must submit the application form, duly filled-in, and accompanied by the relevant documents requested, to be able to have a personal interview with a consular officer, who will then determine whether the applicant is eligible or not for the visa being requested.

The Consular Officer reviews the application form and assesses the evidence available to ensure that the applicant has no intention of staying to live and/or to work illegally in the United States. As such, there are many factors that influence the granting or renewing of an American visa.

Past and present criminal activities, within or outside the U.S., will affect visa applications or renewals at any American Consulate in any geographical region of the world.
