Oh lol my bad. I just looked out the window and car is still there *sigh*. Husband says its a bad idea to walk up to the car and let the dog out, i am not even sure if the dog is still there. Car is heavily tinted and has towels hanging the front windows to cover whatever is inside.

Oh ! There's a husband ?

Then I suggest this. ...

Have the HUSBAND call the police, ask them to tag an abandoned car in front of his house. has a

Once it's tagged, the car owner has 2 to 3 weeks to move it, or it's towed.

If he doesn't want to do that, then tell your husband to pay for the towing, have it towed to any county impound lot. Sure, it's money, but so what?

eh - call animal control, file a report about the dog.

Rather, engage your husband to do this. not you.

The streets is public property . . . even in front of your house. As long as the car is moved every 72 hours, the person has the right to use the street in front of your house.

Yeah i might look into the Neighborhood CCRs and see if there is something useful there. I know about the 72hr rule about parking but the car has been moving a few feet at a time (every other day because i remember it being parked about 10feet away 4 days ago) so I guess that's why the cops didn't make him move the car or park somewhere else. But if the day after tom and the car is still parked in front of our house (even if it moved a few feet), i am gonna call the police again. Can i just tell them that there's a suspicious car parked in front and its making me frightened?

This is what i said a few posts ago. I know about the 72 hr rule or the street being a public property. *sigh* i am not one to walk up to the guy and talk to him to "know" him and be all catholic about it. Maybe i'll just invite him to stay in our house so i could show him compassion...

I couldn't check if the dog is still there as the windows are all covered up. I'll try to take a photo as well. But as my husband said, there is nothing we can do about it...

Or exhibit an irrational fear of people poorer than you when you know nothing about them.

Human communication is irrational. Why try talking to people to overcome your fear? Just live in ignorance and assume people with less than you are out to get you.

What do you want the police to do when the person parked in front of your house has broken no laws?

Well, that's cool. At least he's showing you, somehow, that he's concerned when you raise an issue like this.

Would the police tow the car if it had 3 flat tires?

That is why i am asking what to do about it. I read somewhere that you have to move your car at least half a mile to be considered not breaking any parking laws not sure if it applies here in california.

You can be an advocate for this guy but I am not going to let you call me an ignorant because I am scared. If you don't have anything to say that will help just stop posting. Thanks.

There is no law in California that requires a person to move a car at least half a mile.

The law only requires a car to be moved every 72 hours. The movement can be a foot.
