Are you saying that you can't get a SSN without EAD? My husband got his SSN 2 days after we got married. Your EAD hasn't got anything to do with your SSN. Go to the SS office and apply for one.

Well, here in Atlanta the first time when we required information about SSN, they said I cannot apply for it, I need EAD or GC. Then we have learnt from someone that is not true, I only need a valid I-94. Unfortunately mine is expired, so now I really need to wait until I get the EAD:'(

I applied for my SSN in Atlanta 2 weeks after my arrival in the US with my valid I-94 and received it in the mail 6 days after!

They didn't ask my husband for anything but his passport. I guess it's just different and we had it the in about 6 days as well.

See, that's what I'm saying, everyone tells different things about the process, it is so frustrating... Somewhere you need just a PASSPORT, here, a valid I-94... So you needed to show a valid I-94 and passport and that was it?

Valid I94 and passport and when I went to get my name changed I also needed to provide what my immigration status was (bring NOA1) and my marriage certificate. :)

I think a valid I-94 here kinda means the passport is a given. I believe those are the 2 things you need.

I applied for my SSN two weeks after arriving in the USA (with a K1 visa) and getting married. I took my I-94, passport and marriage certificate - all three I would have thought would be requirements to show legality and validity when applying for a SSN. I-94 shows proof (and date) of legal entry to the USA, passport showed K1 visa and photo ID, and marriage certificate showed that we had indeed got married within 90 days as per K1 requirements. No issues and no problems at the SS office. Got my SSN in the post approx. 5 weeks later.

N400 Naturalization

Applied - 07/21/2022

NOA - 07/21/2022

Biometrics - Re-used

Interview - 11/03/2022 (Passed!)

Oath Ceremony - 11/08/2022
