SSN card.. how long after POE?

We answered "Yes" on the DS260 form to: Do you want to be issued a SS number and a card.

Question: how long after our POE should we expect the SSN card in the mail? It is two weeks since US entry.

There's about a 50/50 chance that you'll actually receive the card. It's probably best to go to the SS office. Once there, they'll either accept your SS application or tell you that it's been issued and you will receive it soon. Either way, it's better to physically go instead of waiting for a card that may or may not show up.

agree with Teeak, I ticked the box, waitied 2 weeks after POE

I went to my local SS office, they checked the system, nothing

The Officer was very helpful and inferred that the system via your visa application was a little hit and miss

Don't bother ringing the helpline, they advise you to go to your local office

Would they ask for anything other than the passport.. with the I-551 Immigrant visa endorsement?

The passport with the stamp is all you need.

Yes a new application is what you apply for.

My wifes was delivered in 7 days.

My husband got his about a week after he came. He arrived on a Sunday and the following Monday he got the card in the mail.

Following your inputs above, we went to our local SS office and applied for a SSN. We were informed the card would arrive in about two weeks.

I waited 2 or 3 weeks and it never arrived so I went to the local office and applied and got it within a few days.

Wife arrived on 5th Nov and still no SSN. I guess we will head to the local office on Friday. No record in the SAVE database so I am guessing we are in the negative 50% that ticked the box.

What form do we need to complete? I'd like to fill it in before we go.
