Hello every one,

I need as much information as i can get.

I am going to marry my fiancé on January 5th 2016, i a plan on filling for him as soon as i get back to the US (i live in New York), i know some stuff about the process but not everything so this i why i need all the help i can get, so the process goes smooth.

-I made him start to get all the vaccines on the list from a local clinic.

-Now i learned that his dads name is not his birth certificate (and his mom is dead and no death certificate)

What can i do to get his dads name on his certificate?

Tell me any information that will help me with this process

Thanks Rochel & Alrick

If you click on the Guides link at the top of the page, you'll find a wealth of information. There's also a Caribbean regional forum here that might help you. Finally, the search functions of this website work far better from a pc, so if you're on a phone or tablet, ditch them for a real computer at a friend's place or library. Good luck!

well, before you send anything make sure you get him to fill out the G-325 make sure he has a valid passport, and you must wait on the official marriage certificate to come back not unless you are going somewhere that will have that right away. If you need any help or support inbox me. GOOD LUCK!!! :-)

To answer your question he can go to the raw registrar office in his area or Kingston and get a death certificate as long as it's on file. But, unsure if he will need it but, it better to have then not have it. If his father is still living maybe he will go with him to the registrar office and get listed for his son's birth paper. And as far as the immunizations go that's great to start early.

The problem is, his dad's name is not on the birth certificate an to my understanding it needs to be on there. Now he went to the RGD and they told him he needs his mom's death certificate to add his dad's name. Now i understand that can look for it she died 18 year ago so what it they can't find it? What do me do next?

This process drived me mad but is coming to a end thank God. ???

My husband is Jamaican and his father's name is not on his birth certificate and we had no problems. The only time you need a father's name on a birth certificate to my knowledge is if a parent or stepparent is filing for their children or stepchildren. In regards to the death certificate of a parent, we did not need that either, they just asked the year of parent's death when completing the DS-260. I would hold off on the police certificate because it is only good for 6 months or a year and you can get one relatively quick (http://www.embassyofjamaica.org/documents/Obtaining_Police_Certificate.pdf) don't forget, go to the tax office FIRST to pay for certificate then to the police office. When you get your marriage certificate (around 5 five days or so after marriage) you get two originals, you keep one and give one to him to take to interview. You can get the passport anytime before case gets to NVC. If you have the opportunity, open a joint bank account, not easy to do, but will help with the bona fide relationship. Take pictures with friends and family members, and keep track of phone calls, Skype calls, and mail that is sent and received (cards and letters you send to each other). Make sure your IRS Form 1040 meets the income requirements listed on I-864P, if not find a joint sponsor you will need that for the NVC process.
