I-130 Receipt Number Not Showing

Hi, my immigration attorney submitted my case last week and a few days ago i received the receipt number through the Email (I submitted the I-1145 form as well for Email notification). However, when i typed in the receipt number provided with this Email, an error message popped up saying "it's not recognized by the system"

Is it usual? or i should still need to wait for the official letter to arrive in the mail, and then try again?

Also, as far as i know, my case has been routed to the Nebraska Service Center.

Question is: is it considered a fast/good one? or one that takes a ridiculous amount of time to process/approve a petition?

I believe even when you get the verification emails/texts, it could take the "system" a few days to update. You should see it soon.

Sorry, not sure about the Nebraska service center.

I believe that they recommend that you wait until you get the hard copy to check the status with your receipt number. It was what my email said.

Granted, I submitted an I-129f not the I-130, but I am assuming it works the same for both?

Especially if your case was routed to a different office than the one you originally mailed it to, it may take a while for it to be updated into the system.

I would wait until you get the hard copy, and then if you still get an error, call USCIS or the Nebraska location.

As for the speed of the Nebraska Service Center, if you look for visa timelines on this site you can actually narrow the results down to certain service centers to see what other applicants wait times were!

It just takes a day or two to be entered into their system. It's normal, I remember same thing happened when I first received an email with my case number.

That has nothing to do with of waiting your case to be approved. Nebraska Service Center approves I-130 petitions for a little over 5 months.

That receipt number is generated from the Lockbox facility (email) when they accepted your file. Then it will be sent to Nebraska USCIS from there they'll scan it and enter into the system. So don't worry, you should be able to check the status by tomorrow.

We have a same issue. The case # is not recognized by the system. We got NOA1 - text on the 4th. My husband called today the military help line to ask how to expedite and he was told they do not see our case that it might take UP TO 45 days to have in updated in the system. 45 days sound ridiculous to me..
