Hello Everyone,

I have two co-sponsors, one of which is my household member and the other one is not.

My wife had an interview yesterday at Islamabad, Pakistan, and they told her that we need to submit i864a for the sponsor that is not my household member and between his wife. I don't understand what this mean, please help me clarify, I called them and they are not a bit helpful, I even emailed them! Please, I need guidance quick.

Sincerely

I double checked just now and this is what I-864 is.......

What Is the Purpose of Form I-864A?

Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member, is an attachment to Form I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the INA. A separate Form I-864A must be used for each household member whose income and/or assets are being used by a sponsor to qualify. Each Form I-864A is completed and signed by two individuals: a sponsor who is completing Form I-864 and a household member who is promising to make his or her income and/or assets available to the sponsor to help support the sponsored immigrants.

I also googled this website........http://blogs.usembassy.gov/philippines/i-864-and-i-864a-iv/

Since it's very clearly specified that the form is only for a household member, it really is confusing why the consulate would ask that you have one for a non-household member. Did you submit the I-864A for the household member that is one of the two sponsors?

I864A, as you know is contract between household member.

Now, Most probably your other co-sponsor might be paying tax jointly with his wife. In this case You need I864 from main other co-sponsor (which you already have) and I864A from his wife. Its only 3 pages with very little to fillup. Take necessary signs from him and her wife in I864A and submit this to embassy ASAP.

Also submit all tax returns, job letters, pay stubs of his wife with I864A too.

Sounds like the consulate is daft! If you're very sure this is what was asked for, perhaps you could fill it out for the other sponsor anyway, even though it makes no sense?

I wish someone else who knows more about this would chime in and help you out here. Hopefully someone who knows what could be going on will see your question soon!

You replied while I was typing my last response. So now there is someone who knows what's probably going on.

Actually they are asking I864A for the wife of other co-sponsor who is not petitioner's household member.

Correct. It is not unusual for an RFE requesting the sponsor's spouse to complete an I-864A. This helps to make sure that the spouse is aware of the commitment that the sponsor is making.

Question,

My father, whom I live with, is going to be my husband's co-sponsor. My dad and mom file taxes jointly, even though my mom doesn't work.

Does my dad need to fill out I-864 or I-864A?

and

If he fills out I-864 does my mom need to fill out I-864A?
