Yes, they'll inform the Ministry of Transportation and it will be cancelled.

Since, you'll be a permanent resident of the US now, you could surrender your Canadian license and get an international driving permit with your NY license. This way, the international driving permit will allow you to drive when you visit Canada.

i couldn't find any way in NYC to not do the drivers test again? Where did you get this info from?

You can exchange it if you have a license from another US state or Canadian license.

Since, you'll be a permanent resident of the US now, you could surrender your Canadian license and get an international driving permit with your NY license. This way, the international driving permit will allow you to drive when you visit Canada.

All an international driving permit does is translate the driver's license of the person's home country, it does not in of itself grant driving privileges in foreign countries.

If it's that important to keep then why don't you just do the written and driving tests to get a NY license without surrendering your Canadian one?

Yes they will take your Canadian license (not sure if they send it back), there's no way around this. My husband had to do it, and when I moved out of state and came back they took my out of state license too. Why can't you use the new NY license you would get for your business? You could start from scratch if you want to though.
