My Citizenship Oath was today. I am now a US Citizen. Thank you VisaJourney for all your help. This site is excellent. No one should need to pay thousands of dollars to a lawyer to prepare docs, when you can do it yourself, with this sites help - Good Luck everyone waiting for there Interview and Oath.

Hi Visa Journey community,

I wanted to say hi for the first time although I have been lurking on this site for years in search of information, advice, counsel, and sometimes, a dash of sanity.

I, like many of you, have embarked on this long journey for almost a decade now. I am proud and relived to say that I finally became a U.S. citizen last month and the feeling is slowly settling in. After nearly a decade of constant stress over forms, timetable, waiting periods and uncertainty around many applications I went through, I still sometimes have to remind myself that I have completed the journey.

I’m writing this to thank you all, anonymous friends and confidants for all the advice and help you have been posting over the years and supporting the immigrant community. I wish you all, and your loved ones, the best of luck in pursuing your citizenship (and/or other statuses) and best of luck in life in achieving the American dream. This process has taught me many lessons in humility and patience and I will make sure I pass it on to others and pay forward the way this community paid forward for the lessons I learned from the site. This country is a unique establishment for a (many) reason and it is no wonder that in just over 300 years it became the biggest economic and intellectual powerhouse in history. Generations of immigrants have given their lives and their legacy for it, and let’s make sure we continue that path.

I am super excited as i just received a text message stating my interview has been scheduled. I am probably one of the last ones to have an interview scheduled so this is very exciting. I will be updating with the date once i get the letter. Time to start studying :D

I just came back from travelling so I don't have an exact day of when the letter was received. I'm guessing either April 7th or 8th. My interview is Scheduled for May 10th in San Diego Field office.

Finally some movement after so many months!

BTW, could someone update the timeline? I don't know how to do it. Thanks

My wife took the oath 3/16 too. We also tried the 8 day expedite and told it no longer exists. You have to get an appointment with a National Passport Agency in in a big city, L.A., S.F. etc for an expedite faster than 3 weeks. You can only schedule the appointment within 14 days of your departure and not a day sooner and have your travel itinerary. However, if you have an itinerary for travel with 14 days, some travel agencies have a courier service where they can get you a passport in 3 days. That's what we did and the extra $135.00 was well worth not having to drive to L.A. It was delivered 3/17, check cashed 3/18 so we should have the passport tomorrow.

Let me ask you a question:

When you were waiting for your Oath letter, did they (Santa Ana) update your status to "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled", after that to "We scheduled your oath ceremony.."? Or, they just skip to "We scheduled your oath ceremony.." from "A interview was scheduled"

When you were waiting for your Oath letter, did they (Santa Ana) update your status to "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled", after that to "We scheduled your oath ceremony.."? Or, they just skip to "We scheduled your oath ceremony.." from "A interview was scheduled"

It went from An Interview was scheduled to Your Oath Ceremony has been scheduled. Got the letter for the oath ceremony about 2 weeks after the interview.

Received my rescheduled Oath Date N-445 today (April 11). Oath is scheduled for April 20 (Chicago). I returned the original N-445 on March 14 by mail (original Oath Date was March 22) and requested a new date after April 6 to make sure I was clear of my vacation - and it worked just fine. Website was updated on April 8 to say a new date had been sent out - although I did not receive a confirmation email or text message - I presume because USCIS don't class a reschedule date as a new step in the process.

My journey is complete - Oath Ceremony today at the Chicago office. Good luck and God's speed to anyone who is still waiting. I'll update the Timeline.

10/04/11 - NOA-1

04/05/12 - NOA-2

Your I-130 was approved in 184 days from your NOA1 date.

NVC

04/23/12 - NVC received both cases (18 days/12 business days from NOA-2)

05/07/12 - Case numbers and IIN's (14 days/10 business days since NVC received)

05/07/12 - Sent out DS-3032 by email; auto-response received

05/08/12 - AOS fee invoiced, paid - "IN PROCESS"

05/09/12 - AOS fee shows as "PAID"

05/10/12 - Spouse's DS-3032 accepted; minor child's rejected = had petitioner call NVC = received verbal acceptance from operator

05/11/12 - Spouse's IV fee invoiced

05/14/12 - Daughter's IV fee invoiced, paid both IV fees - "IN PROCESS"

Yes, it's supposed to change when they schedule it and mail the letter, but sometimes they just mail the letter and stop updating the online status.
