Got the GC approval on the app today! So excited!!!

Keeping the rest of you in my thoughts! Thanks everyone for all your help along the way, couldn't have done it without VJ! :dancing:

We had our interview at the Chicago office yesterday. Arrived at 10:15 for an 11:15 appointment. Got called back at about 12:00.

The officer was nice, quiet.

She swore us in. Asked us all the 485 and 130 questions.

She reviewed our birth certificates and parents info. Asked our names and birthdays.

She then asked questions about our wedding and if we are going to have a reception in the future. We had a courthouse wedding and are planning a more traditional wedding but have nothing planned yet.

She asked how we met and we told her our story.

She asked if there was any other info we wanted to submit which we hadn't already. We had a huge binder but she only took some additional insurance and financial documents.

She explained the ROC and Citizenship info for later down the road. She then told us if she needed any further info we would get a request in writing. She said it could take up to 120 days to hear about our approval.

That was it. All in all it was about 10-15 minutes. I'm really bummed we weren't approved on the spot.

Has anyone had to wait long after their interview to hear? Most things on here I've read that even if they weren't approved on the spot, the update came on the app quickly thereafter.

I'm so over waiting for everything!!

Hi all! So frustrated...... I can slap USCIS!!!! Here is our story. We were scheduled to have my husband's AOS interview 12/17 but the genius' cancelled it. well, even online to date still says that as of 11/22. Anyhow, with no status updates I checked the mail and a darn letter came from freaking IDAHO application support center??!!! how the heck did our papers get to ID and why???!!! ugghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Then, says he needs to submit a copy of his original birth certificate in English (He did this already idiots duh! and what language would it be in he's British!!!!) Also, says he needs to submit medical examination form I-693 and supplemental form I-693 immunizations.... hello... did they not get that when they took that huge packet from him when he entered the country that SHOULD have been filed to USCIS? someone please help me understand so that he can get this done. luckily, he is traveling in England right now so he can hopefully get it done there and it would be MUCH cheaper than over here in the U.S. He is traveling on his adv parole. Then they have the nerve to say has to be submitted within 30 days... smh!

to my reply above, Does that mean he needs to do a medical all over again and resubmit his immunization record? That is So stupid when clearly they are the ones that have the huge envelope with everything in it.

I am sorry this happened to you. I know how frustrating it can be. I am not an expert but i'll try to answer some of your questions. But first, is the letter you received an RFE letter? If yes, then you definitely need to send the documents listed there and within the time period the letter said. As for the i693, only a civil surgeon can complete that form so i am not sure if he can do that in UK. You can find a list of CS on the USCIS website and give them a call to ask for the rates. Its normally about $200 for the whole I693. Good luck!

thanks so much thespoons and congrats on your recent success! I hope things get done on our end. so frustrating sometimes as it is not your fault and they mess you up!

they said it would cost 149 to do everything the medical exam and fill out the papers. we can handle 149.

one last question. The letter we received states it came from the application support center but, it states "Attention A-File ############" then it has Re: X I130 petition for Alien Relative Re: X I-485. we only filed the AOS (which included the advance parole which he has in hand already since November and his authorization to work permit) Do you think the I-130 is a mistake? don't want them to say we missed something... thoughts?

Thanks!

Good that the CS fee is cheaper. :) yeah i was in the same boat as you but it was after my interview as they lost a document (something from the airport immigration officer) and they had to request it from my POE. That delayed the approval for 9 days. Still I am thankful that it only took 9 days as the IO told us that it could take weeks, and it was because of something that THEY lost.

Goodluck on your aos and I think you should give them a call about why your case was assigned in their Idaho field office (unless that is the nearest one from where you're located).

Cheers!

Yep you need to call them about the i130 if you didnt file one. If the tier 1 call center agent couldnt help you, ask for a tier 2 person.

Congratulations to all of those who's gotten their GC approved. I haven't been on here since I have been busy with tax season. But I noticed that many people have been approved thus far. My wife continues to wait for her turn. I hope she gets her approval or interview soon. Until then we continue to wait. We did file for AP back in December in case her AOS takes more than 6 months. Hopefully since her EAD has been approved back in Nov 2015, hope her AP also gets approved while we wait for her AOS to be approved.
