Missouri Teenagers Protest a Transgender Student’s Use of the Girls’ Bathroom

Almost 200 high school students in Missouri walked out of their classes to protest one a transgender student in senior year being allowed in the girls' bathroom.

Members of the Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Missouri, ditched two hours of lessons to object to Lila Perry, a 17-year-old senior, being granted access to female bathrooms.

Perry, who started identifying as transgender earlier this year, was using the female facilities to change for gym classes, which upset many other girls at the school.

Hard to believe such protests happen in this day and age in the U.S. . (Or maybe not?)

I would be more worried that the transgender student appears to suffer from anorexia or some other eating disorder...

A transgender high school student in Missouri is facing backlash from her peers after requesting to use the girls’ bathrooms and locker room.

More than 100 students at Hillsboro High School, about an hour south of St Louis, walked out of class on Monday in protest.

“I’m hoping this dies down,” said Lila Perry, the 17-year-old who began identifying as a girl publicly in February. “I don’t want my entire senior year to be like this.”

Ms. Perry, who began feeling “more like a girl than a boy” when she was 13, said school officials gave her permission to use the girls’ facilities as the new school year began.

I wish I'd thought of that a long time ago, I would definitely have pushed for rights to use the girls gym too, and had like 3 periods of P.E.!

I can understand why teenage girls in a locker room for gym class might be a tad uncomfortable seeing a naked person with a wang hanging out showering with them (assuming it is the same as my gym class was in my high school, mandatory showers afterward in a single large room)... Or are they going to limit the activity at that point? if they are going to limit it there why?
