I am planning to move to the US next week and wanted to ask you if you know about a good solution to ship clothes and belongings to the US.

I was desperately looking for some option too, but couldn't find any. I am leaving in 2 weeks, so I just booked one extra suitcase for $100. It is not enough, but oh well...

I'll be using Travel Cargo. Not sure if they exist outside Sweden though. They charge about $800 for three large boxes weighing about 25 kg each and three medium boxes weighing about 15 kg each. The cost is from Sweden all the way to Austin, Texas.

You might get more specific response if you post in the German specific forum. If you find other people moving from Germany and close to your location in the US, it might be worth getting a container together. It's about $3,200 for a container but if you're a lot of people, it's definitely worth it.

I am using ITO. They do things at short notice it seems (I want to move in 3-4 weeks, and I still don't have my final pick-up date). They are specialized in Europe <> US.

However, next week without former contact seems very short notice.

I just use DHL...it is around 60 EUR for 20 kg boxes (120x60x60cm) and it is way cheaper then adding additional luggage.

If you want to go for 31.5 kg per box it is around 90 EUR.
