Would expired green card + extension letter and passport is good enough to travel in and out of Mexico?

Did you get the extension letter in the mail? I heard that getting a stamp is optional

Expired GC and extension letter should be fine. I just had a bad experience when I left the country in December so I decided to have a stamp so it won't be a hassle for me once I leave the country again.

Thanks,

I want to get that too to be on the safe side. Could you please tell me the steps of getting one?

I already got my biometric done

Yes, normal. If you completed biometrics all there is left to do is wait for them to work on the case and if you are VSC filer like I am, we're going to be waiting a while as they haven't even finished April.

Our online status is unchanged since we got the biometrics letter, even after attending.

I have a strong feeling many of us will be filing for Citizenship before they even process our cases.

Okay. Thanks for the information. I'll start researching on applying for citizenship.

We just returned back from Paris (gone for 45 days) and entered US with an expired GC and extension letter, had no issues, no questions asked...

Folks please be patience, we need to wait at least 45 to 60 days to see activity on our cases, do not bother to check on a daily basis :)

so it looks like we can't apply for citizen if our 10 years green card not approved?

You can, the statement you have quoted basically means they will not approve your naturalization application before the approval of I-751, but they can exist at the same time within their system.

Once you file for Naturalization, USCIS will be forced to adjudicate your pending ROC !

What about visiting a country where you NEED a US green card to enter without a visa? Would the stamp be good enough to get in? I'm not talking about returning to the US. Say for instance you are a citizen of Mexico, and a citizen of this country normally need a visa to enter Canada. But a US permanent resident can enter Canada without a visa. Would that person be able to enter Canada with the stamp in their passport?

if i recall correctly if your home country needs a visa you would still need a visa even with a american green card, the grgeen card will only allow you into the usa

No, it may depend on the country, but the example of Canada will let green card holders visit without a visa. Mexico is another one as are several Caribbean nations.

On the paper, yes it should be fine. But you are going to trust some foreign border agent to know about US immigration laws and paperwork. I wouldn't be surprised a bit if they cause problems for you. If you are going to enter through a major airport or land border, you may have a better chance of finding an agent who may have seen seen cases like yours before and would help a lot. But if you are going to try your chance at a not so crowded border crossing, this may very well be the first time ever they see such a paperwork and they may not have a clue what it means.
