The law that took effect Monday was "a big giant step forward," said state Sen. Loretta Weinberg, a prime sponsor of the civil unions law, who hosted ceremonies in her office for couples including Goldstein and Gross.

The civil unions, which offer the legal benefits but not the title of marriage, were granted automatically to the hundreds of gay New Jersey couples who had previously been joined in civil unions or married in other states or nations.

I'm completely in favor of Civil Unions as long as I can have one in a hetersexual relationship. Then I can have her on my medical insurance and not on my taxes. win win

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

So that makes, what? New Jersey, Vermont and Connecticut all allowing civil unions and Massachusetts allowing marriage for homosexual couples.

Interesting...

I would've thought that California (and perhaps Oregon and Washington State) would be on that list too, but no-go.

Doubly interesting. Oh well. I don't see any reason why they can't be together, if not in marriage, then in civil unions. B)
