My wife immigrated to the U.S. about two and a half years ago. She has no family here in the U.S. and I decided to join the military. I will be gone for a couple months for training and since we will have a baby soon, it will be nice if my wife can have her sister over for a couple of months while I am gone. My sister in law is not married but does have a young daughter at home in Armenia. She is 23 and has a 2 year old that grandma and the other aunt will take care of while she is here. SIL does not own property, has an entry level job. The purpose of her visit is to be a companion for her sister while I'm gone and obviously she'll go sightseeing as well while she's here.

Armenia is not very economically advanced with money being tight, I'm trying to figure out whether it will be worth trying to bring her here or just sending my wife back to Armenia for a couple months while I'm gone to training....and that's where there's another predicament...the dog :-/.

Doesn't sound like there's a good shot, you didn't give any kind of reason for them to believe she'd go home besides just saying she would. A child is not enough reason, as people leave their children all the time. The other issue would be how you're going to sell her coming to help your wife, because even though they're family it can be seen as work to come and help with the baby as that's something a nanny could do. Doesn't matter is she's going to be paid or not.

Send her home to Armenia, get storage for all your things and save on all the money you'd have here on bills. What kind of green card does she have? Keep in mind you'd have to apply for a U.S. passport overseas for the baby before he/she can return.

I assume she does not have a visa, has she applied for one? If she can not get one then that leaves out that option, if she can get one then there is a call to be made.

They might wonder how she can take 2 months vacation, many people can not, especially those in entry level jobs.
