It's been a year since we started this journey, our interview was last Thursday June 11 in Montreal Canada and we were approved. We made all the necessary arrangements (booked flights, movers etc) and then hear about this. My heart is breaking. We just want to be together, we just wanted to get our children enrolled in school so they don't feel as much like outsiders starting late. This is just heartbreaking. I really thought this chapter in our journey was finally coming to an end.

JustaTT,

This is the time that living in Florida is a bummer, because we have to deal with TSC.

To think people that went through CSC are processed in 30 days is a severe injustice to us waiting 8 months to process the same petitions.

:ranting:

Ok Elena was approved today. So we have our K1 interview approval but are in a holding pattern. Still. I swear it seems like everything that could go wrong with this process HAS gone wrong with this process. 221 days in the TSC. A good wait through the NVC to the embassy. Then they made us wait 2 weeks before we were allowed to schedule an interview. Then there weren't any slots available until 2 weeks after the point in time when we received the green light to schedule. Now the ever-lovin-motherin State Department BS. Sheesh! Anyone else enduring the same cr@p??!?! lol :D

FWIW (not much IMO) but the CO told Elena today (Wednesday, June 17th) that we can expect a minimum of a 2 week delay WRT receiving our visa. He added that it should be no more than 3. So min 2, max 3.

Yeah, we'll see. Friggin state dept!

Congrats on the approval!!

Visa Systems Issues

The Bureau of Consular Affairs continues to experience technical problems with our visa systems. This is a global issue, and we are working around the clock to fix it. More than 100 computer experts from both the private and public sectors across the United States are working on this problem 24/7. That said, we do not expect the system will be online before next week. The problems stem from a hardware failure in a State Department facility in the United States on June 9. That failure is preventing the Department from processing and transmitting biometric data checks at visa-issuing embassies and consulates. We cannot bypass the legal requirements to screen visa applicants before we issue visas for travel. Each visa decision is a national security decision, and we take our obligation to protect the United States seriously.

We regret the inconvenience to travelers and recognize that this is causing hardship to those waiting for visas, and in some cases, their family members or employers in the United States. We will continue to post regular updates on our website, travel.state.gov.

Q: What caused this outage? Was it a malicious action or hack?

  • There is no evidence the problem is cyber-security related.

Q: How long before you restore full system functionality?

  • Public and private sector experts are working around the clock to correct the visa problem, but we do not expect the system will be online before next week.
  • Overseas and domestic passports are being issued.

Q: How many travelers are affected by this outage?

  • Most posts were able to handle visa interviews and some visa printing as usual through the end of last week. This week, many posts have had to reschedule visa appointments. We handle an average 50,000 applications daily worldwide. Many applicants do not have immediate travel plans and will receive visas in time for planned trips. We are prioritizing urgent medical and other humanitarian cases as well as H2A agricultural workers.

Q: Once operational, how will cases be prioritized?

  • We are already prioritizing urgent humanitarian cases and temporary agricultural workers. Once the systems are fully operational, we will work as quickly as possible to clear the backlog of pending visa cases.
  • We apologize to travelers and recognize that this has caused hardship to some individuals waiting for visas.

Q: What about domestic passports?

  • Domestic passport operations are functioning, with some intermittent processing delays. While some of these issues have affected same-day service at our passport agencies, we continue to issue passports to U.S. citizens with urgent overseas travel needs.

Visa Systems Issues

The Bureau of Consular Affairs is in the process of resolving technical problems with our visa systems. Biometric data is not yet processing properly to allow embassies and consulates to perform security checks required to issue visas.

More than 100 experts across the country are working on this problem 24/7. We are pursuing a variety of solutions. This week, nearly 750 temporary or seasonal workers who had been issued visas in the past were issued new visas in Mexico, and we have issued another 1,500 visas globally for urgent and humanitarian travel. We continue to look for ways to facilitate travel as we work to restore the systems to full functionality.

We deeply regret the inconvenience to travelers and recognize the hardship to those waiting for visas, and in some cases, their family members or employers in the United States.

Q: What caused this outage? Was it a malicious action or hack?

There is no evidence the problem is cyber-security related.

This is not the same problem we had with the CCD last year, which was a problem with the database caused by a software patch. This is a hardware failure, and we are working to restore system functions.

Q: How long before you restore full system functionality?

Public and private sector experts are making progress in correcting the visa problem, and we are striving to have the system online sometime next week.

Overseas and domestic passports are being issued.

Q: How many travelers are affected by this outage?

Most posts were able to handle visa interviews and some visa printing as usual through the end of last week. This week, many posts have had to reschedule visa appointments. We handle an average 50,000 applications daily worldwide. Many applicants do not have immediate travel plans, and will receive visas in time for planned trips. We are prioritizing urgent medical and other humanitarian cases as well as H2A agricultural workers.

Q: Once operational, how will cases be prioritized?

We are already prioritizing urgent humanitarian cases and temporary agricultural workers. Once the systems are fully operational, we will work as quickly as possible to clear the backlog of pending visa cases.

We apologize to travelers and recognize that this has caused hardship to some individuals waiting for visas.

Q: What about domestic passports?

Domestic passport operations are functioning, with some processing delays. These technical problems have affected the intake of some mailed applications and same-day service at our passport agencies; however, we continue to issue routine and expedited passports to U.S. citizens for all overseas travel needs.

Q: What about the foreign agricultural workers (H2A visa holders?)

We issued nearly 750 H2A visas for agricultural workers this week. These are applicants whose biometric data was captured before the systems went down.

  • As of noon today, 22 posts have been reconnected, representing about half of the global nonimmigrant visa volume. All our servers appear to be stable. There is a large backlog of cases to clear, but we have already made good progress. We will continue to bring additional posts online until connectivity with all posts is restored.

Yeah but they don't specify WHICH posts have been restored, so those of us who are DIRECTLY impacted by this BS have no way of knowing if we're back on the road again or if we're still waiting to come online. Any way you slice it this was a cluster of the first order. And I'll stop there.

Check visajourney for any clues. Not totally reliable but you can see timelines if anyone else from your country has received a visa. Like for us, a friends cousin in Ecuador got their k1 so we're pretty sure Ecuador is one of the 22! (She told us; we didn't find out on herec though.) So maybe check if others have received their visas from your country in the last day or so! Obviously not everyone will update their timeline but if they do, you may be one of the 22!

Well. I checked my case on CEAC. It still shows READY, but the difference is that it finally changed the Status Updated Dat. I had June 15 since that day, and now, it shows the current day. Will it be a good sign? :clock: Have any of you got the day updated too?
