Hello, everyone. I am an American citizen but have been living out of the U.S. for about 9 years. During these years, I got married and have a child. We want to go back so I filed 2 petitions back in September of 2014. We are at the last step...but I got a checklist for my son. I'd filed an I-864 but I got an email back (checklist) that I should file an I-864w instead. So I did that, and now I got another checklist that they want a passport copy (he didn't have a passport at the time so I sent his birth certificate). Is it possible to call and ask them to schedule the interview and I'll take the copy to the interview? We are in such a hurry and every reply from them takes so long...I'm just wondering if this is possible? Probably not...but would like to hear your opinion. Thanks.

Can't you go to the American Embassy and file a CRBA and get a US passport for your child? You shouldn't have to petition your child if you are a US citizen.

I have another question: my husband got his second checklist too so I guess I'll just send my son's passport copy with my husband's documents. They asked for his passport copy, birth certificate copy, military records and police records. I thought he was supposed to take his police records with him to the interview? Can this mean we are nearing the end and we won't get another checklist? I really hope so.

No, usually you send everything in beforehand so they can look it over, and the interview is purely talking, and maybe some extra photos.

Thank you! Just another question and I promise I'm done :). In my husband's first checklist they wanted more evidence from my joint-sponsor that she can support him. In this second one, all they want is his birth certificate copy, passport copy, military records and police records. They won't want more documents from my sponsor anymore right? I'm so worried they might get this packet...then go back to my joint-sponsor again. Thanks again.
