Unless there is a video showing the incident prior to police officers arriving I will have to stand behind my initial comment. In the news video, not the barrel roll snippet which is odd indeed, we miss everything leading up to the officer taking the girl to the ground. Missing what preceded that, I am not going to assume that racism caused the takedown. But we also see another Black kid run up on the officer. And general mayhem.

I can't believe that the kids are doing what they are doing while the officers are there. I'm inclined to agree with the sentiment the officer appears to be acting aggressively but the caveats for me are the lack of video preceeding the takedown and the foolish and reckless behavior during the takedown.

I find it odd that there are reports of a mother being beaten up and no evidence of this exists as of yet. There seems to be a distinct difference in the stories. Both on opposite sides of the spectrum. Both claiming racism, but one side has video of the cop going after the black kids.

Also, there was a video of the fight that broke out. Which shows the kids trying to get away from the lady who was saying racial slurs. So there was some element of that at the party.

Everything else aside, if the part about the DJ tweeting out invites to a pool party is true, I hope he does hard time. Idiots like this are responsible for so much senseless violence. It's the same as insighting a riot as far as I'm concerned.

If this was a private party, then at the best it was a stupid move. Nothing worth going to jail for. But there's a bigger issue here...

This situation could have been handled a lot better had the racial elements been left out completely. Talking about Section 8 housing and making racial comments did nothing but make it worse.

I really don't know what led to the confrontation, be it racial remarks and the attempt to kick them out or the kids were acting up.

Kids that age do and say stupid things - fact of life. The cop took it personal and lost control and let the situation escalate. He will be needing to find another line of work in the future I imagine.

All three of the city’s public pools lie to the east of Highway 75. Craig Ranch, where the pool party took place, lies well to its west. BuzzFeed reports that the fight broke out when an adult woman told the teens to go back to “Section 8 housing.”

Craig Ranch North is the oldest residential portion of a 2,200 acre master-planned community. “The neighborhood is made up of single-family homes,” says the developer’s website, “and includes a community center with two pools, a park and a playground.” Private developments like Craig Ranch now routinely include pools, often paid for by dues to homeowners’ associations, and governed by their rules. But that, in itself, represents a remarkable shift.

One resident, Benet Embry, a black man, posted on Facebook about the events leading up to the police call. “Look, I LIVE in this community and this ENTIRE incident is NOT racial at all,” Embry wrote. “A few THUGS spoiled a COMMUNITY event by fighting, jumping over fences into a PRIVATE pool, harassing and damaging property. Not EVERYTHING is about RACE. WE have other issues that NEED our attention other flights of made up make believe causes.”

In another post he is critical of media coverage of the incident. “I’ve never seen such irresponsible reporting and miss management of media resources in my life,” he said.

Another McKinney resident, Bryan Gestner, posted on Facebook, “This was a Twitter party that turned into a mob event. Jumping pool fence. Assaulting 2 security guards, attacking a mother with three little girls. The video doesn’t show everything.” He continued saying the kids were drinking and “smoking weed” and they would not listen to any of the adults around the pool.

“This isn’t about race,” he continued. “This is about outside kids invading our neighborhood and had no respect for authority or the residents here. I have a target on my back now and I have been threatened by these punks that they are gonna shoot up my house when all I did was try to control the mob and actually tended to the girl and the boy that had a bloody lip.”
