Hey Van.

All I can say is this. I land on the 22nd of September. My medical is on the 23rd and 24. They're couriering my medical stuff to the Embassy and should hopefully arrive on Monday or on Tuesday, the actual day of my interview. Processing? 14 days you said that woman said? We will see. All these doctors are driving me nuts with there own opinions. As far as processing goes, all I know is that if the doctors find something wrong with you, it delays results. But if all looks good, then I don't see what the hold up could be.

Wow, you are going to hit the ground running!

I don't know why the receptionist at the Johannesburg clinic said 10-14 days. Seems a really long time. The blood work they are doing doesn't take that long to result ( I am a nurse). So yeah, my fiancee just booked a place in Johannesburg for 19 days!!

Hopefully he doesn't have to stay there all those days. We ended up finding some good options on airb&b.

Just got a reply email from the U.S. Embassy in Luanda that our docs arrived today. CEAC is still showing 'in transit' though. The Embassy said they would be contacting him soon to verify and gather documentation. I just DHL'd over this lovely organized notebook of documents so that he's prepared for his interview.

Now if I can just warm up my fiancé's extremely cold feet right now. He's so terrified of coming here and not being able to find a job that he's starting to second guess our plans. I know it's normal and this is such a massive life decision. I'm just trying to be supportive and understanding but it's scary to think that he could back out at anytime because of fear.

Please keep us in your thoughts as we're almost at the finish line.

Hope your fiancee is feeling better about moving. The good thing is that he will have time to look for a job while waiting for the work permit. :) And he can start to get a feel for where he wants to work. What kind of work does he do?

My fiancee for sure has reservations about living in the USA. He doesn't have cold feet, he is eager to come be with me and our baby but he never thought he would live in the USA. I am scared that he will hate it here. He sees only negative news reports about the USA and thinks its a super violent place. And to make matters worse my state, Texas, will start to allow people to openly carry guns on January 2016. So... for sure he won't like that. I am open for moving out of Texas so we will see how it goes.

If he can leave everything behind for me, I can leave Texas for him if he wants. :)

He works in transportation & logistics. I live in the NYC area so I'm surrounded by successful immigrants. I've reached out to friends of mine in his industry that have been willing to mentor him and hand his resume over if need be. I'm actually talking to a recruiter tomorrow who may share some insight on how he can tailor his resume. I get job alerts for him daily just so I'm knowledgable about the opportunities. And the plan as we wait for the EAD was for him to get settled, take a business English course to improve his writing, and then hit the ground running with job apps.

He's always expressed his fear of not being able to find work but now he's completely paralyzed. He hasn't had a decent conversation with me for weeks because he's trying to decide what to do. We've never been this 'far' apart and its torture. ?

His family isn't very supportive of this so I'm positive someone has recently gotten into his head once again with horror stories that he's going to be destitute and that we're not going to work out. ?

So I'm just praying everyday that he'll come to his senses and get ready for his interview. We're so close to finally being together and I would just be devastated if I couldn't live my life with him.

Awww :-( hang in there. I hope he realizes that what matters most now is that you two will be together and whatever happens along the way, you have each other. You can be successful in your career but if you don't have someone to share it with its nothing. Just be patient with him and make him feel that he has your support and just keep on praying

I'm trying. I really can't imagine my life without this man. We've gone through so much to be together. Our 1st anniversary (of the day we met) is in a few weeks and I swear it's been the most challenging yet rewarding year of my life.

Makes me wanna punch every jerkoff who's had a snide comment about him using me for a green card?. Some have no idea how hard people agonize about leaving what they know, regardless of how good or bad their country is.

I think we have a tiny bit of time. CEAC is showing us as 'ready' as of last Friday. The in progress visa application is going to expire next week but you can always restart that. I think our petition expires in Nov.

Hopefully I'll know where we stand soon so I can keep making life plans or God forbid, figure out how I'm gonna move forward without him.

Thank you guys for being understanding.

The DS160 is another form you have to complete, more about the beneficiary, then there's the readiness form - which is really short

Our case was approved on 30th June 2015. We still haven't received the case number from NVC. We called NVC but we can never reach any representative. We email them but no reply yet. Could anyone suggest what can we do now? Is it ok not knowing the NVC case number and simply wait for packet 3?

Thank you so much.

I think I've figured this process out - they make it so tough, confusing, drawn out and complicated, that any couple has to REALLY REALLY love each other and have a relationship built of stone to withstand the waiting and the pressure!!

Anyone else here from the UK?
