Need Advice - K-1 visa delays for interviews in Armenia

Hi Everyone,

Thanks in advance for your help! Here is the situation: the K-1 visa for my partner is at the embassy in Armenia. Everything is ready to go but we are waiting for an interview. I got an email from the embassy this morning saying that they will not be doing any K-1 visa interviews until August because, basically, they are too busy to do it. As you can imagine, this is really hard because of the delay in bringing my partner here, but the real issue is that I am pregnant and due in July and REALLY want him to be here (of course). What are our options? I am thinking of the following:

1. Asking for his application to be moved to a different embassy: I can fly him to China if I have to, but can you request this at the embassy level? Will they grant it if he is an Armenian resident? Will it take longer than waiting in Armenia? Any suggestions on embassies to request? In case you are unfamiliar with the area, he is close to Turkey, Georgia, Russia and Lebanon, but really anywhere is worth it for us!

2. Asking for an expedition: can this be done at the embassy level? I know my pregnancy is an emergency to me, but I doubt it is an emergency to anyone else.

3. Involving a Senator? Would this help at all?

His interview has to be in the country where he resides unless there is no consulate, there is a consulate in Armenia.

They do not grant expedites for pregnancy. I'm not sure what a senator could do to get an earlier interview if the consulate is booked solid, senators don't have control over consulates or their schedules. Congrats on the baby!

I know someone who got same e-mail in March and was advised to try in month of May, but for some reason was still able to have interview in April, so I would suggest keep trying. I am suprised because Armenia embassy was doing interviews in 3 weeks, so weird they are so backed up now. Person whom I spoke waited about 3 weeks and this was recent. So either e-mail them to ask if there is a any chance for interview before August. As to transferring to another embassy I agree with prior comment. Keep trying and check website everyday. I have another contact here, also from Iran, who was able to get an appointment. I wonder if they are processing them on different schedules? I don't know why that would be the case, but maybe it is possible. I hope you are right! Thanks for your response!

Hi, your timeline shows that you have already been scheduled for August interview. I am glad for you. Did they schedule it for you... or you were able to schedule yourself...?

I'm not sure what you could do to expedite at this stage but I do know that some consulates do expedite for pregnancy since the London embassy accepted our expedite which was for that reason. We provided a letter from my OB that stated my name, date of birth, that I was seeing them because I was pregnant, when I was due and that my husband was indeed the father. It was signed by my doctor and had the official letterhead of the OB/GYN group.
